Does anyone use Vonage for phone service. My daughter is getting older and I need to get a unlimited line and vonage is unlimited local and long distance for $24.99 but the reviews I read were 3 years old and were not that great. I would like to go through my high speed internet for the phone service.

Yes!! I have used Vonage for the past four years, it is great!! I also use Skype. Skype is a service that you can talk all over the world for free as long as you do not dial the number, but use the internet. Skype also has video capability.

I had a problem with Verizon and Vonage in Virginia, but Vonage help me work it out. It seems that Verizon holds some sort of patent that will not allow the data packets through their system sometimes. Vonage was able to work around it.

Joe, just be sure to make HER pay for going over on minutes, etc. I honestly don't understand the folks who keep buying bigger and bigger plans because their kids keep exceeding what they've set up.

I hear ya Mike. I have AT&T with roll over minutes so so far when I'm over it hasn't bin a issue I'm just trying avoid a problem before it is one

What about Comcast Digital phone ? anybody use it ? If there phone isn't bad I could just do the triple play. I have cable tv and internet with them, there first year would be cheaper than with vonage and only $20 bucks more after the first year.

The flat fee that Vonage charges includes a lot of amenities. I would really suggest using Skype without the dialing. I use it to talk to my brother in Chile. Sometimes we can talk for an hour or more and the best part is that it is for free!!

I have had Vonage for a bit over two years and am fairly satisfied with it (I have cable internet). I also got a line for my daughter and son-in-law in South Dakota (I'm in Arizona), so that works very well when Mom and daughter (an me and SIL) have SIX HOUR conversations (Thank GAWD for hands-free phone sets!!).

Vonage support is pretty dismal (in the Philippines), but the set up is easy and I've never has any significant issues.

On the other hand their competitor, VOIP.com is an outright bunch of frauds and virtually make no bones about it.

My wife used Vonage to talk to her aunt in Soctland a few times before she passed on, but I think Vonage now has an extra fee for international calls (I think it's $5 a month).

One note, though: if you use a FAX, it won't work over a Vonage line, but they do have a FAX line option for $10/month)
