I just got a new rifle that I plan to use for varminting. It is the first 22-250 I have had in a long time. It is a Remington XR-100. Now, I have to find a scope for it. I am leaning towards the Bushnell 6-24x40 Elite 4200 Rifle Scope with the 1/4 moa dot.

Great choice! They have a reputation for accuracy and the trigger is a delight. I hope you can get it into action soon.

One of the reasons I thought it would be a good rifle for me is because it is a single shot. When I shoot with repeaters, I have a tendency to heat up the barrel. I am hoping this one will slow me down a little.

I shoot most of my varmint guns single shot. I figure that it's not that much of a pain, and I like being able to feed the individual rounds through it.

Great rig, and if you get that Elite scope you will love it. I have three Elites (one 4200 and two 3200's) and all are great.

Don't worry about the single shot. Much of the time I use my rifle as a single shot when shooting p-dogs, and last year one of my friends did all his p-doggin' with T/C Encore in 22-250...and he still heated up the barrel. Very Happy
