Well guys I'm at a delima, I figured out what "extra" money I made up in the last few weeks of working and I put it into 2 savings accounts. One for future use to buy a home and one for "toys". Anyways the delima is for the toys savings account. I do not have enough for any one toy yet but I am trying to decide between getting one of these rifles once I save up enough for one of them.
1) LongBranch Lee Enfield No. 4 - 303 British (Better non-sportered example about 450$)
2) Remington M700 CDL - 30-06 Springfield (New about 900$)
3) Springfield Armory M1A Loaded - 308 Winchester (New about 2,300$)
Any ideas ??
Dimitri

Dimitri,
There's not a 17 or 20 caliber in the bunch. I don't know what to do!
If I was hankering for a hunting rifle. I'd save for the 30-06 with a scope, rings, bases, sling all at once. Then I'd try to bring in enough meat to save enough money to buy a Remington 17 Fireball.

All are good choices and I would shop the used gun racks to see what is available. All the best...

17shooter,
I've thought about getting a 17 Remington but its probably not going to happen till after I end up buying all 3 of these rifles.

Howdy Dimitri
Don't listen to other's advice, including mine. IMO proper gun acquisitions are more an issue of the heart and less one of the mind. When you find a firearm you are anxious to spend your savings on without regret, one that you simply must own, that is the one that will be memorable purchase.
Keep your eyes and options open.

All 3 of thouse I'd spend my money on without a second thought. All 3 of them I've wanted for many many years.
Hense why I am having a difficult choice.

Well Morax most girls I know (that are not anti-gun or anti-hunting) think its a guy thing to waste money on and wouldn't support spending money on them I think. So the hard part is finding the girl not the idea of getting her to pay for your bills for you.
Still I've thought about it alot since I posted and I think I'm going to go with the M1A, I like semi-automatic rifles.

D,
I don't know what other guns you have. A good 30-06 is absolutly unbeatable. It's on my "short" list too. I happen to live in a "shotgun only" state, so it hasn't been critical to acquire one. BUT I WILL!!

Well I've got a FN49 in 8mm Mauser and a Cooey Model 6C 22LR (both semi-automatic rifles).
A 30-06 is a good all around caliber, hense why I'm considering one.

Two comments: find a women that has more guns that you have. That should be a prerequisite for a good and long lasting marriage. Second matter -- if possible, find a gal that has a good dowry. Since women outnumber men, only women with dowries merit consideration.
It took three marriages to find this out for this slow learner, so, while this valuable and expensive (for me) information is provided to you without charge or obligation, I hope you will at least consider the points. Incidentally, my third wife has several more firearms than I, owns her own motorcycle and truck and loves to camp, hunt and fish. Since she is a conservative and Republican, she has fit in perfectly with the rest of the family and enjoys hunting with my daughter and daughter in laws, all of whom drew tags this year.
Men should never have to ask permission to buy a rifle or handgun or shotgun or go hunting or motorcycling either from their spouse, their employer or their government. Neither should their spouses. These are inalienable human rights that should never be compromised, bartered or leveraged. To do so would only weaken the family, the society and the world at large.
Civilization is at stake!! Choose carefully and wisely.
