I took my Marlin 917v in 17HMR with 6x24x42 scope to the range today and here is a three shot group I shot at 100 yards after a site in. That is a Canadian dime next to the shot group.

Really nice shooting. That 17 looks like a keeper. I take it not much wind today. Hope I can get out one of these days.--tr

There was absolutely no wind at all today and the temperature was about 20F. It was a really nice day. This is the first time I really got to spend any time sighting in the 17HMR after putting on the new scope, and doing some work on the trigger pull. The snow was blown in fairly deep in places on the road to the range but the old Chevy 4x4 got me through. I had my 22-250 along as well and I don't know what I did with that target, but the new load I'm working on for it shows lots of promise. It didn't do quit as good as the 17 but it's getting there.

Aint they fun? I know there are arguments about how popular HMRs are, but IMO I really love mine. Very fun rifles, I find myself shooting it much much more than any other rifle I own now.

Was pretty nice here today also except I had to work. First nice day we've had in a long time. Its rare to have a day like today. Good that you could get out and enjoy it. Been trying for a long time to get out and work up some loads for my new 6MM. One of these days.
Still, thats some good shooting. What will you be using it on?

Dallan, they sure are a lot of fun. I debated about getting one but I'm sure glad I did.

moose2, I'll be using it mostly for gophers, but also for magpies and crows. I also am going to get rid of the hundreds and hundreds of pigeons at the in-laws farm. They are making a mess of the buildings out there because there's so many. I figger I'll be able to shoot them from a distance and they won't even know where it's coming from.

What bullet/load are you working on for your 6mm....?

Hi 1895ss, I spend alot of time at my brother in law's place near Alida in S.E. Sask. and this past fall my nephew picked up a 17HMR and it has been a hoot.
We placed a Titan scope on it and out to about 150 yards this thing has been exceptional along with my 204 we have been attempting to reduce the gopher population in our pastures.
Good to know that fellow Sask boy on the forum.
