The admin folks knowed , but dont know if they shared it or not ..
May 4th , wifeys birthday , the 100 year old cedar and heart pine structure that had been our family home burned to the ground , and we got to watch ..
All's well , we're doing great ..
Hope to start rebuilding in the next couple weeks ..
Insurance put us up in a fully furnished mobile home on our property till we rebuild ..

Sorry to hear you lost your home. Sounds like your spirits are still up and that's a good thing. Were you able to salvage anything? Are they going to rebuild to original specks or will this be a new design. Whatevver the case may be, we wish you the best.

Truly sorry to hear that. Was a wildfire to blame? Did all your firearms survive? Hopefully your wife will have a better birthday next year!

This was electrical they think , and I'm fairly sure it was ..
Nothing salvaged , I managed to get to the house to get the truck keys to move it to the barn ..
We were at the barn working ( about 100 ft from the house ) and saw it jus as it started ..
4000 SF under a steel roof over tin roof over asphalt and shingles makes a hot oven ..

Have to start all over with the guns ..

Well it is kinda neat to start over with the guns , but I had several that I will never be able to replace ..

Sorry for your loss in the fire. Now you know, if you did not know before, that insurance is a very small part of the recovery from a fire in your home. You always loose way more that the insurance can replace. Yes you get a check, but the loss is so much more than money......

The homeowners policy has a limit for guns when the loss is a result of theft, but for fire, the limit is the total limit for all contents.

Unless you "itemize" and pay a little extra. I pay about $25 a year extra on my home owner's insurance to insure $20,000 worth of firearms...Plus I have the NRA insurance (for whatever that's worth)...

Ah ok, don't know how homeowners insurance works when it comes to firearms.

Anyways guess 25$ a year for 20,000$ in firearms is a good deal you got there Bushmaster. Smile

It helps to insure everything you have with one company. They tend to give you a break on the cost...Besides I have been insured with this particular company for many years.

I think the NRA insurance works like this. If an arsonist caused the fire and destroyed your weapons, the NRA sends someone out to track him down and kill him for you... ROFL

Well if an arson does "blaze" my home and destroyes all my firearms make sure that NRA agent brings an extra firearm as he will have help...
