The disabled pay a good portion of our tax dollars too. They are entitled to the same benefits as any other citizen, within reason. If I were to agree with your line of thinking, then you and anyone else over 62 should not be allowed to hunt. If you had a heart attack while in the back country, the government would have to spend all those tax dollars to rescue you. Yup, only folks who pass a government certified physical exam should be allowed to enjoy their God given rights as an American citizen.

Oh let's see here. Age 64 as a couple of days ago. BP 120/70, Colesterol 190. Good colesterol 185. Weight 145. Height 5" 7". Don't smoke. Do enjoy a whiskey once in a while. Spend a lot of time in the mountains with horses. No I don't believe I'm in the market for a heart attack just yet. And no SPECIAL provisions have to be made to accomidate me. You are welcome to come along as long as you can keep up... Fencing Hiding Cheers

My only objection to this topic is your adding another factor in a accident waiting to happen, the blind shooter cant see the animal they are shooting and rely on a spotter. There might be a delay while the spotter gets him ready for the shot, or the spotter might not see a person behind the animal that the shooter looking forward would etc. Confused

If it was a controlled enviroment like a private farm etc I dont see a problem as there shouldn't be anyone else in the area. Smile

Most hunting here is done on private land, so I dont mind the use of ATV's etc since its not like they'll be going on the area I'm hunting in, at most it would require a Conservation officer or someone else with his pick up to get the guy out of danger as the farms are smaller here and cellphones work in the farms. Smile

Bushmaster, I'm glad that your health is so good. Everyone should stay in such good shape. But you just made my point for me, while you may be in good health, there are many people over 62 who are a walking heart attack just waiting to happen. If those people are allowed into the woods why shouldn't someone who has a prostesis but otherwise is in better physical shape. Myself, I'm 50 in excellent health. I don't smoke and I am an avid backpacker, fisherman and hunter. I would love to go out into the back country with you, but I don't think you could keep up with me because I use my own two legs. Smile I don't have much use for horses because they destroy good trails and leave droppings where ever they go. No insult meant to the horse lovers out there, just an observation from past experience. Ride them if you got them, they are beautiful animals.

And common sense tells you that he, Mark Ingals, was and is an exception and most will attempt it without being physical or mentally ready. In as much as we have people who are not disabled getting into trouble we don't need to add the disabled to the list.

And thanks of your comment of my physical being and you're right. Others should be so lucky...Really...It's easy...

Happy New year Big "D"... Very Happy

Common sense should tell you that anyone who is willing, able and capable of getting out into the woods, disabled or not should be given the same opportunity as any other person. What we should really worry about adding to our list is intolerance towards disabled hunters. If we need a list, lets start with the drunks with high power rifles.

Not to be Cold on this, but I think the Blind shooting game on public land, NO. Maybe in a high fenced in hunt, and Atvs have messed up enough of our land.

Cant blame the tools for the idiocy of the owners! I have used a ATV for years and have not hurt nothing with them. And if a person is blind....what the He!! is he or she doing with a gun in the first place????

Crackshot, I too own an ATV and It takes a few A-Holes to mess it up for everyone. We can still ride them on certain trails in the U.P. (Mich.) but it won't be long before they outlaw that too. I've seen the damage that some do with ATV's and it ain't pretty.

I dont doubt it. Like I said, its been going on for years with small cameras looking through the scope that the spotter can then see where the point of aim is. The laser just makes it a bit easier and cheaper.
