I'm going hunting with my buddy in Washington for elk this year. I had a question about your firearm laws. Now I'm not hunting myself but will be with him when he hunts. So, can I carry a rifle, shotgun, or handgun? If I do carry a handgun can I open carry or concealed carry? Thanks.

Shotgun,
You can't carry a hunting arm unless you have a license.
If you have a concealed pistol permit you can carry concealed.
An unconcealed sidearm is considered a hunting arm and you could be cited.
If the hunt is during bow season there are no firearms allowed - with a possible exception for a CCW.
If you are from out of state then you will have to check to see if WA accepts your states permit. If not you can apply for a non-resident permit. We are a "shall issue" state.

Thanks, I am from out of state but I did find this on another forum.
RCW 9.41.050 Covers carrying firearms and says (1)(a) Except in the person's place of abode or fixed place of business, a person shall not carry a pistol concealed on his or her person without a license to carry a concealed pistol.
However RCW 9.41.060 Provides for Exceptions to restrictions on carrying firearms and says
The provisions of RCW 9.41.050 shall not apply to: (8) Any person engaging in a lawful outdoor recreational activity such as hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, or horseback riding, only if, considering all of the attendant circumstances, including but not limited to whether the person has a valid hunting or fishing license, it is reasonable to conclude that the person is participating in lawful outdoor activities or is traveling to or from a legitimate outdoor recreation area;
Good to know about the open carry though thanks.
