I think that was the first soccer game I've watched since my girls quit playing in about 2002.

Never really got into soccer... but I recently started seeing video shorts of this guy, I know Messi is super popular but this guy Erling Haaland is unreal. Talk about a modern day Viking.

I'd get into this sport if there were more people like this:

Speaking of the World cup, Australia played a draw with Paraguay yesterday, so we would advance to the next step. Fingers crossed that we would go even further.

funny you say that about the goals.....it struck me the other day...these players are the best of the best...the worlds elite if you will..they have practiced for hours,weeks,years,some of them for 20 plus years honing their craft to be super strikers ,they must have slotted thousands of goals in practice every year..yet..come to a penalty shoot out where they only have to do two things. get ball past goaly and into the net...they often fail at both...I can completely understand when the man with the gloves wins..but I struggle somewhat when these so called super strikers screw the pooch and miss the big rectangular bit ,sometimes by a fair bit.... and if you were refering to the over turning of the red card...and the press beat up of it....well watch the footage..there is no way that was a deliberate fowl to come down on ankle like that.... very unfortunate and hard on guy being tackled for sure..but intent was correct.... if the VR can over rule goal or other calls minutes after event...how is it any different for the authorities to look hard at footage after match??? they do it in most other sports to decide the penalty for transgression...

So true Elvis. Unfortunately big sport has become very politicised and big money…the two go hand in hand these days. Gone are the days when a kid with dreams of playing in the big time could make it…these days it’s all about money and sponsorship and to a lesser extent (at the moment) politics.

Frankly there area too much drama in soccer game.
The referee has the last say, thus all the dramatic wounded play that a lot of player show when being "touched".
