| The .30-30 belongs to the Lever guns of old. Thitty-thitty is one of my favorite calibers. I have both a M94 (WCF) in .30-30 and BLR in .308. Let's leave it there except for Thompson Center. |
I agree Bushy…it’s all about the tradition with me. A Winchester Model 94 30.30 in a lever gun is in my mind perfect. I’ve owned and used a TC Contender pistol in 30.30 and it just wasn’t the same feel…same accuracy, but didn’t feel the same.
I love my Model 94 in 30.30, and so does my grandson, so much so he has told me he wants it, right or wrong, in my Will…along with my Lamber side x side 12g and #5 SMLE 303 and Krico .22 Rimfire and………he wants them all!!
The 30.30 might not be a long range cartridge, but it is very capable within around 200 metres, every bit as capable as other rounds. My TC Contender pistol would shoot within a five inch group at 200 yards…with open sights. That’s not to play down other rounds, it’s a case of “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.
