I’ve had a very troublesome week. My wife felt unwell last Tuesday afternoon, saying her right arm and leg felt numb and heavy. I didn’t muck about, took her straight up to see a Doctor who promptly sent her to Hospital.

After much assessment the Doctors came to the conclusion that she had suffered a "mini stroke", medically called a Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA). Shocked She settled down in a hospital bed about 1:30am and I headed off home, getting into bed around 2am. Back up at 5am to get ready to head off back to the hospital…I’m still trying to recover from the lack of sleep. Long story short…the symptoms settled down fairly quickly and an MRI, Cat Scan, ultrasound and blood tests showed all was well with no hints of damage from the ‘attack’. This makes me happy in so much as she is well, however they say an TIA can be a warning shot for a possible major stroke in the future. All seems good now, or so she says, so now it’s just a matter of keeping an eye on her.

The effect it’s had on me and the problems I came out of the Army with has been terrible…it’s really stirred things up for me badly. I wake up four or five times a night to check she is ok. Crying or Very sad

Well, hang in there, we'll be praying as well on our end. If you want someone to char with just hollar.

Really hoping 2026 will be better than 2025 but its starting off rough.

Thanks Dallan, that’s very much appreciated mate. Your Dad was right…it does suck as you age, not being able to do some things you could when even a little younger, and more importantly watching those much loved ones around you deteriorate as they age as well. Sad Sad

That's scary stuff. Mom had a couple TIAs, but lived to 97. My wife had one, and luckily we were 1.1 miles from the Emergency Room.

Vince, I hope everything calms down for you!

Thanks everyone. I’m starting to feel that a TIA does not necessarily mean a big one is on the horizon…it’s more a warning to look at your lifestyle etc.

I’ll certainly be doing whatever I can to take the pressure off my wife…if she lets me…and do whatever I can to alleviate any further chances of a future problem. Neither I nor my family want to loose her under any circumstances.
