I’m not feeling 100% today. Had a cataract removed from my dodgy right eye yesterday, they also fitted a lens and zapped the back of my eye with a laser. It has all left me feeling pretty ordinary…headaches, back and neck aching from laying flat on my back for an hour whilst they worked on me (have a neck and back injury from when I was in the Army). Fingers crossed, I will be able to see a bit better when everything settles down. Who knows, I might even be able to use my right eye again, or even shoot better Laughing

Gotta feel weird for sure. Hope you recover quickly. My dad had that procedure and he had better vision after than when he was in his 40s.

Thanks mate. Don’t know if I’ll have better vision because it was my dodgy eye they worked on. The Ophthalmologist tried to remove with the laser at least some of the blood that was buckling my macula and causing a big blurry blob in the middle of my vision in the right eye. I’ll have to wait until it all settles down to find out if the Dr has been successful, otherwise I’ll have a nice sharply defined blob. Laughing Learning to shoot left handed after 60 years of right handed shooting was a job and a half I can tell you…muscle memory is difficult to overcome.

Take care Vince and remember no heavy lifting or shooting for a while. Make sure you ask the Doctor.

A few years ago Deb had a detached retina and was fixed the next day, successful. Because it was days before Christmas no shooting happened.

Wife had cataract surgery a year ago on both eyes. She sees TOO good. I had to re-hide all my goodies again.

Feeling much much better now. I think the problem was the residual anaesthetic. I find that even things like Twilight Anaesthetic take 3 or 4 days to get out of my system.

I drove up to my “go to” gun store yesterday and picked up some factory 308 ammo…Winchester 135gr HP and PMC 150gr SP, also a new scope for the 308. I opted for a Mikko Stirling Diamond 4-16x40 unit, only AUD$319 and a lifetime warranty. The reticle is a bit “busy” (see pic below), but I can work around that. The Winchester offering looks very much like the same HP round the Police use in their sniper rifles; it’s marked as doing 3000 fps. I want to try some good factory ammo in the 308 with which to compare my handloads. I’ll check with my Ophthalmologist when I can shoot again first of course.
