Good fer you Pumpkin! I have to wait till I'm 66 and 2 months because I don't have much retirement to live on. Probably work till I die....Turning 65 this August so I don't have too much longer to wait (but I'll keep workin...sigh) I was enjoying the covid virus stay at home deal, a nice preview of things to come? I wish. Pumpkin enjoy life!

This COVID is enough to make me want to retire.

Between COVID and riots I'm glad I'm staying home. That's probably keeping me out of jail...
I have noticed that I've started getting calls about "Since you're not working could you ...?" I picked up and delivered a TON of sports collector cards for a handicapped neighbor today (he buys and sells them). I pick up flooring for my daughter tomorrow and haul it to the mountains on Wed.
I did get most of an AR-15 assembled yesterday. Gotta figure out how to properly torque the aftermarket barrel nut because my wrench won't work.

Pkslinger, torque it until the gas tube lines up with the receiver. Do you have the barrel nut shims if it takes too much pressure to align the gas tube?

Mike,
Get the other wrench. There are two types and if you are going to build anymore it is worth it to have both.

This barrel nut requires a 30 mm open end wrench. Regular AR wrench won't work. A big adjustable will fit but then I don't have an easy way to know what the torque is. It's supposed to be between 30 and 80 ftlbs. I've got a 30mm crowsfoot coming that will fit the torque wrench. I don't have to worry about aligning the nut and gas tube because of the way it's made, the tube doesn't pass through it. I'll get a photo to share later.
While all this was going on I found some extra parts. Guess I might have to build another...

By the way, I could get used to not having to go to work every day. This past weekend my younger daughter and I got to go see my older daughter and her husband for the first time since early Jan. We all had a good time!

Pkslinger, glad you were able to see your daughters. I'm trying to plan to meet our daughter in the northeast while not going through an airport.
Even if the barrel nut doesn't have to align with the gas tube, they often have to be set to align the handguard and associated screw holes with the upper receiver.

There is a crows foot wrench for things like that. They are a stubby wrench with a socket for a torque wrench or a ratchet.
I have one in my main tool box that would fit but we are half a continent apart. I would bet that Harbor Freight or any auto parts house has them on a shelf someplace.

I and the Mrs. retired on 31 Dec 2019. We got a retirement cruise in before the lockdown (got back on 28 Jan). I have completely exhausted the "honey do" list , caught up on cleaning and depriming brass, and built a new ammo case in the safe room. I get more done in a day than I ever did!

I think I've been pacing myself so much that I'm not getting anything accomplished ...

I think the Mrs. will never run out of things to do. She is making things up now!

Pkslinger, did you ever get that barrel nut tightened? I had one of those and my crescent, grooved, adjustable hand plier wrenches did the job.
