That’s a good video on headspace Pete...I’ll certainly be trying his primer method to check the headspace in my rifle.

I won’t be using surplus ammo in my rifle...it’s too corrosive. I bought 100 rounds of Prvi Partizan (PPU) loaded with the 174gr FMJ plus I bought another 100 PPU unprimed cases, and it is these 200 I will be using to reload.

Cheers I've enjoyed working up loads for my old girl as any rifle I've ever owned ,

Bought her for $350.00 at a gun-show about 5-yrs ago from an old gentleman that was passing his guns on as he had no one in his family that was into guns. I was looking for a short barreled brush rifle . He told me he used too shoot target matches with it ,the reason numbers don't match, he built it up like Johnny Cash's song ONE PIECE AT A TIME,,,,,. Never would have guessed she would shoot so accurately . Cheers

Vince as for the scope mount,,,if you ever go that way,,,,You want to try this mount...

Addley Precision's No. 5 .303 British Lee-Enfield Picatinny Scope Mount

Addley Precision mounts are precision machined from solid billet 6061 t6 aluminum and black anodized for durability.

This robust design comes with a full 5" upper Picatinny milspec rail that allows for more hardware options and features a cutout that allows the full use of the original peep sight.

It's better that some of the other top mount screw on types. they have a history with me they work loose or break from the jarring ... of course I use a Weaver side mount, since my numbers don't match ,it didn't matter that I drilled holes in side of receiver .

My opinion Scratch don't let anyone talk you into cutting on your No5 , Most people would give their left n_t for one, Cheers

303 is definately an unknown meat maker to the newer generation of hunters and target shooters lol. I've got a no1 mkiii* that I've used for years for hunting moose scoped and set up to still see this iron sights for closer ranges , it's never let me down like my newer 300 win mag has. I've been loading 220 grain for several years and seems alot better then what I had previously been loading. Took it to the range a couple of times and the younger kids there thought it was a sniper rifle till I told them. Still has a nice smoothe action with the matching numbers and full wood minus the bayonet it's probably the best $180 I ever spent and bagged countless deer, bear , and about 9 moose. I'm thinking over the winter months of working out a faster load but the old girl is almost at its full potential currently Chronoing the loads at 2193 fps

GooseGuy What I've found with the .303 British round is stay below 2400 fps and use flat based bullets,,,the Woodleighs 174-gr and Hornady 150-gr give me the best groups....both are.312 dia.

Some of my earlier post (loads)
The mk-6 fmj 175-gr rounds recorded 2380 fps ,
Do all my chrono test at 15-feet from muzzle.

No moose down here in DIXIE land ,but keep us informed on any load development for that 220-gr bullet... Cheers
