Here are some new clothes for you, stovey! I just used a vinyl applica to camouflage my rifle in prep for turkey season. It is from Gunskin and is similar to vinyl applications used for advertisements on vehicles. For a 1st timer, I thought it came out very well. My hunting partner was suitably impressed. It was easy to apply, precisely cut, and their instructional video walks you through it. It takes 2 to 4 hours to complete an AR. I will definitely do it again on my other rifles. The kit came with pieces for the grip which I chose not to install. There is enough to cover the butt stock, but again, I left it as is. I also chose not to cut-out all the openings in the handguard. The vinyl looks pretty durable and I really like the feel of it. It takes that metal feel away from the handguard when handling the rifle with out gloves.
Now I've got to decide whether or not to do with the scope.

Good job! I don't do turkey with gun. Going for longbow turkey this year. As if squirells and small game weren't hard enough with stick-n-string .
Camo: works for humans and turkey. For sure! I aint into the camo thing. Had one uplander I hunted with for a long time, he made me wear it. Hahaha. Otherwise, I don't think I own any camo now. I wear muted earth-tones on my walkies when hunting.
Some folk swear by it. And that's fine by me! Do what works!
And how the heck would ya do the glass? Sooo many intricate and moving parts. I'd mess that up fo sho! Try it and leme see leme see!

see if you can find some of the "horse bandage" roll of self sticky stuff....basically a bandage that stays in place...easy as to do the round sections of scope with it...and anything else you want...get sick of it you just take it off...lasts for ages and is dirt cheap if you get the horse bandage stuff not the flash camo variety.Ive got grey on my suppressor and its great.

WOW..that came out nice..
I didn’t know turkeys were hunted with rifles ‘till I moved out West (except for WV).
When I mention shooting them with a shotty, these people look at me like I’m crazy...

Good looking rifle! What cartridges and loads do you use for turkey? Here in NC we can only use shotguns for turkey.

I bought a 6 pack of that camo tape off ebay for $12. It works but its not super durable... nor does it look as good as Slim's rifle, that looks great! I might camo up mine with one of those kids.

hunterjoe, most hunt them with a shotgun in Texas but since Turkey season in the fall is the same as deer, quite a few get shot with a rifle. I shot one with a shotgun and two with a rifle last year at 200 yards (two birds with one shot). shot placements and bullet type is critical if you shoot them with a rifle and you want any meat left. They are big birds.

Elvis, I have enough material left over, I think I will try and do the scope this afternoon.

Pkslinger, this is a 300 BO I built to for testing .308 bullets at low velocities. Its pretty anemic compared to a 6.8mm unless you are in close. The 300 BO shines at subsonic so I thought I would learn how to load and shoot subs for hogs. I'm using a 195gr MKZ from CavityBackBullets. It is an all-copper bullet that opens up like a mechanical broadhead. I thought I would try it on turkey this Spring to gain experience with the set-up.

My shooting buddy got a pack of Mossyoak Graphics Rifle Skin as part of a job lot and gave it to me. I thought...Vince, this will make your .223 Savage look real purty...so I applied it, and it does look great. In two years it hasn't slipped or raised an edge...it is still sticking well.
As for doing a scope...my mate hydro-dipped a scope. It doesn't look magnificent, but then again it doesn't look crap either. If you can get your hands on some of this stuff, it will go onto a scope with ease, and will look terrific I reckon. Best thing about it is it's thin and can be moulded to fit weird angles and little nooks and crannies simply by warming it with a hair dryer.

Vince, thanks for listing the Mossy Oak option. Their rifle and shotgun kits look good. The Gunskin AR kit appears to be more complete and cover more of the receiver and forearm rail. Scope was easy to cover and does make the rifle look better.

That there is why camo radios, camo knives, camo binoculars etc are such a bad idea. Few years ago I sent my boy across a meadow with his muzzleloader to wait for deer to cross. Within 60 yards of the truck on a trail, he lost his radio. We never did find it and we walked back and forth for hours. Didnt see a buck that evening either.
Some things I want bright colored, starting with my knives.
