They won't show you the latest technology. They are working on a personal laser rifle. It will be introduced as a squad weapon until they get the cooling down but the gun itself can be shouldered by one person. It uses the latest fiber optic laser technology and it's big brother is mounted on ships right now to replace the .50 cal phalanx guns. As long as the engines run you have ammo to fire. with the guided fire it can take out RPG and mortar rounds as well as cruise missiles.
