What a funny read....in Arizona we used to fish for crappy, both white and black, on Roosevelt lake where they got to be really big. When they're spawning the school up around rocks or pilings and you can catch lots of them just sitting in one spot. Really fun with ultralight fishing gear or fly rod.

Those crappy croppies sure tasted good smothered in my made from scratch beer batter. I think I will go catch some more of the shitty little bastards tomorrow night. Nothing beat pulling them through the ice and cooking them fresh the same night.
Made my first venture to the store today. Things are healing good but I can't believe how slow I am. I was passed by a little old lady with a walked in the burbon isle, and some old creep almost ran me over with a scooter in Walmart.

Well here it is two months later and the knee is not doing so good. It is technically better than before but there are new unwanted developments. Now that all the swelling is gone I have a bad catch in the knee that just about puts me down when it locks up. and there is the other side of the coin I have had some buckling when I walk. So now they have me using a cane and Doc thinks it is going to be a long term deal. I am hoping he is wrong. I'm not sure how to use a cane walking through the marsh. I guess it will need a big pad on the bottom. I sure am not going to give up my hunting.

youll get there old boy just keep at it. look at the cane as another leg to keep you steady and get a decent length pole to take instead when out with rifle so you can use it for prop aswell as walking aid.

Two months, early days 6 to 8 months would be my call.
Keep at it, if its not improving by then put in a warrenty claim with the surgeon.

Well stay out of the marsh silly! If you go too slow the mt. lions might think you're prey. If you put a pad on your cane get one that looks like a big-foot print. That'll keep other hunters outa your way and pave the way for a new hobby.
(or not)

I guess it has been screwed up for so long that the first sighns of being better got my hopes up way to high. It does seem like I have taken quite a few steps backwards. The doctor didn't seem to have a lot of faith that this procedure would last for a long time but he was hoping to get my a few more years before a full knee replacement. It sure changes the way I work, I still want to kneel down to work on thigs but an very abruptly reminded that it is not a good idea to kneel.
Deer hunting won't be a big problem because I can use the wheeler to get to and from the stand. But duck hunting is going to take a lot of thinking. Most of the time I hunt a lake close to the house where I have to drop the boat into a creeck that buts up to the road and paddel in to the lake. Getting the boat up the bank and onto the trailer or on the truck is going to be a problem. Many times I have pulled the boat up to the road with a tie down strap but that doesn't help getting it up on the trailer or truck. I will have to figure out how to mount a winch in the truck or on the trailer.
I am greatfull for all the support I get here, I have been having a pitty party wondering if my duck hunting is over. Thanks guys.... and you too Suz.

Your duck hunting days ain't over...I'm thinking you need to get a hunting partner to assist with your boat mate. Another option is to get a set of detachable wheels for your boat. There are a number of options out there that should meet your needs mate.
This is a great product from the Land of the Long White Cloud - New Zealand that should solve your boat problem. I'm sure they would be available in the US, or could be obtained via mail order.

Outside of the knees, you are a rotten one!!!!
I remember catching some HUGE black crappies up there on Swift and Big Boy Lakes in the Boy River portion of where it comes into those two lakes from Leach Lake. They were FANTASTIC!!!! They don't usually get that big down here in Iowa especially in SWIowa where I am from.
So yeah fresh ones through duh ice??? Whatever... HAHA!
Hope that knee stops givin' ya' grief.

I think I might be headed towards knee surgery myself. My right knee was giving me problems for the last few months with stiffness and pain. Last week it blew up like a balloon so I finally went to the Doctor. The specialist believes it to be cartilage(meniscus), but an MRI scheduled for Friday should tell the tale. I'm not looking forward to being laid up.
