We dont have the right to self defence
Self defence is not an admissible reason for owning a gun, knife or pick axe handle.
You can try and stick your head up and argue the point at the cost of everything you own and probably your freedom as well.
We have 4 enemies, the government (who mean to govern full stop)and the media (kumbyar my lord kumbyar) and the sheeple who are scared of everything (believe the media crap at every turn)and DEBT, everyone is in debt to some extent. The romans used their army and crusifiction to rule the masses, our govt uses debt, keep your head down, keep your job and you'll be ok. Arc up and watch what happens.

Looking at the news every night ( f***ing media again and probably lies) from around the world, you get the feeling that people EVERYWHERE are sick of the governments they have, lord knows I'm sick of our system and the govt at every turn is making any opposition impossible. Anyone who does is labled a loon or worse a terrorist after all a terrorist is anyone they want to label one, then you find out what the word f***ed really means.
The other problem is that to resolve this will take us down the road Syria is on at the moment and your good selves went through back in the 1700's, or northern Irland, I fear we dont have any far sighted, honest and switched on people to write a iron clad constitution as you had, although yours seems to be suffering from do gooders and rust as well.
Then you have the problem of what do you replace the shite system we have with?

As Pete said...the only way we can fix the Govt issue is by going the same way Syria went, and that is really an unacceptable situation. No way we will ever get a Constitution like you guys have...the chance for that passed about 200 years ago. Those that would write a Constitution would still be a product of today's society and as such whatever they write would include all of the "touchy feely, warm and fuzzy, tree hugging, kumbayar politically correct" crap that is giving everyone so much grief.

Actually on the scale of things NZ is a lot easier to own firearms than Aussie, we don't have firearm registration, a fire arms license is a privilege not a right and so the onus is on you the owner to behave and protect your hard earned responsibility, stuff it up and the Police will go out of their way to ensure you never own a firearm again(Legally).
