Sort of done anyway. I installed the DI system, still waiting for funds to get a piston system. This has a Plum Crazy polymer lower which includes the trigger and innards and the stock, but I did change the grip to an Ergo grip. The barrel is an un-chrome lined YHM 7.62x39 and is 20" with no flash hider or break. YHM low profile gas block and MagPul MOE handguard. I got some AR Stoner magazines for it that seem to be cool. Haven't fired it yet because of the weather. I put a Sight Mark reflex sight on it and a cheapo bi-pod from Caldwell. Made up some dummy rounds and it cycles loads and ejects.

TRBL I reload that round and so it was convenient and also I wanted something I could hunt with. Not a long range hunter but I'd like to try a .270 (that would be an AR-10 I guess) also if I can find a barrel and bolt. I'm thinkin I might make a couple, they're fun to build.

Blah Suz:I built a ar10t and in checking out various caliber configurations -I could not come up with any in the long cartridge designations;i.e.270,3006,2506 in the ar-10 platform.Magazine length and bolt carrier throw would kill it I believe. Now they do make them in 243,308,most anything based on 308 casing, and some of the new short mags. Suz, that looks good! I'll be waiting on that shooting report.

The AR-10 was designed for a .308 Win length cartridge so a .270 Win won't fit. Maybe a .270 WSM?

I personally like the AR10 7mm08 option. I am thinking I may build one of them for deer hunting and just shootin for the fun of it. You could also use it for yotes and such.

I remember a extremely expensive variant of the ar in a long action but cant find it on a quick search I'll get back to you. The 7mm-08 would be a near ballistic twin in readily available components though.

7mm08 sounds like a good one to me. Ok I'll need some donations to get me started. Saturday I got my credit card bill for a rifle re-barrel (that I sent back) and various AR-15 parts including barrel and bolt, carrier and all the expensive crap, then I also got my health care statement. Had to transfer money from savings to cover it. Got it paid tho, that was about a grand. So I think I'll sell my drift boat next. Wonder if anyone's in the mood for a drift boat in the winter. Not in the mood to spend any more money right now. I should do this for a sideline, make some uppers for people and some spending money for me. I saw a place where you could buy 10 barrels for $1000US, wonder which direction they shoot.

I just read up on the 7mm08 and it should do the trick, I was just trying to stay with the rounds I reload to keep my inventory down. Oh it's probably years down the road but I think I'd like to make one, it sounds like a great caliber.

Had to get my flashlight out, I don't have a flash on my camera
and it's a bit hard to see without some contrast.
I swear the things I have to do sometimes, sorry it's not clearer.
The company has since made a name change to PCF
they say because of interest in LE and military sales, they
thought Plum Crazy on the side might not be the best idea.

I love that cartoon
I can make smile too
