I have about 300 once shot winchester brass in .243 and am getting ready to work up a load for 100grn partitions, then load up 7-8 boxes worth. I was looking over my manuals and I noticed that Nosler has RL22 listed as the most accurate powder they tested. I have a bottle of it but I've never tried it in .243 ... most people seem to like 4350 for the 243Win, but if Noslers info is to be trusted, RL22 still more accurate and eeks out another 100fps.

Anyone try RL22 in .243Win?

Never tried it in the .243, but it beat all other powders for accuracy in my .300 WBY with 180gr, 200gr and 220gr bullets.

RL22 has been one of our go to powder for the 300 Win Mag, 300WSSM, 3006 (all with 180 gr bullets) and it was the best powder for the 270 with 130gr sierra spitzers #1830.
I loaded test loads for Darcy's 270 and he put 5 rounds into one ragged hole that was not two calibres in diameter at 100 metres. The man is a human benchrest.

I use RL22 with 95 gr. SST hornady for most accurate in my Rem. 788. I get around 2900fps.

I tried RL22 last year with 100gr Nosler partitions with 44grs RL22 with around 2850fps. Accuracy was pretty good on my R788. But I still went back to IMR 3031 for better accuracy in my gun.

I've just now got around to RE22 in a 270 win. It's really accurate in my rifle, but not quite as fast as H4831SC or IMR4831. But I'm still working with it.

So far the best load I have found for my 243 is a berger 95 gr VLD with 40.5 gr of Hodgdon H380 I'm getting a consistent 2925 fps +or- 10 fps... and I'm still testing... accuracy is 5 shots all inside a quarter at 100 yards

Yep, that'll do. Nice shooting.

My Rem 788 in 308win likes the 3031 better also. I don't load it hot only 34gr for th NosBT 165gr. I get right around 2500fps +- 40fps

think about barrelfriction: when your barrel is somewhat smaller in diameter than average and/or longer, you get more frictionforces and you need a powder with a slower bruning rate.

Compare the .308 Win and the .243 Win, to get all these gasses trough the smaller hole of the .243, you need a slower powder.
Conclusion: it's difficult to give decent advice on such matters when you're not allowed to try. So test it and you'll know.
