All we have to do is endure the heat of summer and, presto, the hunting seasons will be upon us for big game. In Arizona, hunts are based on drawings and many of us, myself included, will enter applications for elk, deer, and antelope. Some will add bison, desert bighorn and others. Drawing a tag is increasingly difficult and Arizona hunters often look to other states for hunting. I have hunted Idaho for elk numerous seasons, Wyoming for antelope, New Mexico for elk and mulies.
What do you plan to hunt this year? Will you travel to another state to hunt? How important is the " trophy " class of game or is meat the primary reason for hunting for you?
Me? Mexico for Coues and Mule deer, Idaho for elk and whatever tag the great and wonderous state of Arizona grants me.

Well I'll start out here in NC with Dove the first weekend of September, muzzleloading for deer in October followed by the general deer season right after muzzleloading continuing until the first weekend in January. Season limit should again be 6.
I'm also hoping to get in a hog hunt and out of state deer in either Minnesota, Michigan or New York, there is a possibility for a Virginia deer tag this year also.
Not much of a horne/antler hunter although they make great handles for draging out your deer. Never could get them tender enough to chew. They also make great buttons, knife handles & powder measures.
Went in with a friend and we built a backwater pontoon out of two canoes and a couple sheets of plywood. Runs in very shallow water and has a great carrying load plus very stable. Have an area that is very remote and we are going to hit it this year!!

Crackshot,
What do you use for starlings? I'm thinking it would be great practice for a 22 LR, in both rifle and pistol.

Here in my part of England, it's Rabbit's all year round - they breed quick, you know...
The Fallow buck season is about to close so I'll look for another before the end of April and then it's target practise for the next 4 months.

No plans to do anything out of state this year... I didnt even put in for out of state tags because I am too busy this year to do anything like that. Me and my wife both drew our general season deer tags so I'll do the muzzleloader thing and she'll do rifle.

This year I will be grouse hunting in the month of October mostly out at my wood lot. In November, I'll be heading down state the first week of deer season, then back out to my wood lot for the next 2 weeks of the season. What I'm really looking forward to is NEXT November (2007) when a bunch of friends and I will be heading to Labrador for caribou hunting.

This should prove to be an interesting year for hunting. Nearly 80% of my hunting centers around birds. With this bird flu thing coming on its anyones guess as to what this years season will bring. Most of my hunting is done in North Dakota. Basically I shoot prairie dogs and coyotes all year round, though coyotes have been in short supply in my area last few years. Start dove hunting in early Sept. and partrige and sharptails two weeks later. Late September the regular goose and duck season starts.
In early October pheasant season starts and it is my mainstay till it ends in January. If lucky to draw a tag I will hunt Antelope in October also. Deer season start mid November. Usually harvest two whitetails. Just returned this week from bear hunting in north Idaho. I try to fill in the gaps catching fish.--tr

Right now there are groundhogs on the surrounding farms that I can hunt. Squirrel season starts in October along with muzzleloading antlerless deer. Some friends and I will go after pheasants on a regulated shooting ground this fall. December is rifle deer season, if I can find or see any of them. All the best...

Will go for Turkey #2 before May runs out......
Summer will be blastin' chucks with various big game rifles...
September will no doubt include one or two runs at the Bears in the Aderondacks......
October will be bow season in the back yard...
November will be a triplex of hunting deer in NY, PA, and Virginia...
Spring '07.......Coastal Bears in Alaska........
Throw in a few coyotes, bunnies, squirrels, birds and ducks and there you have it...........
