Great stuff mate...she looks all tuckered out. How did she react to the gunshots? Did she flinch or look on with anticipation?

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Mate one bunny got both barrels OVER TOP of Meg..she was on long line and between bunny and myself...I blame the extra care of aim on reason I took fur off bunny but didnt find it. I got pigeon which she found..mouthed and after a few short throws retrieved for me Very Happy huge fuss made of her for that. I did mange to shoot another rabbit that she saw shot and watched Nugget go in and get out of windrow...the mind seems to have clicked that guns =fun walkies. she if funny as a play on long lead..she trots along 5 yards infront and after a few times stepping on lead if she gets ahead she stops and looks back then trots on again sort of 5-10yard stop go action looks a hoot Very Happy theory is that if I take her out after bigger game she can lead me to them and stay in close contact as a team...will see Cool

went out yesterday for a look for a deer. gave Nathan point duties and Meg and I tagged along behind..Meg on long lead..for first time in the bush she moves well and isnt too noisy, a few tangles of the lead but no big hassle at all, we came home when it SNOWED wtf !!!! got back to camp and rescues Bec's from wagon, the sandflies had her boxed in ready to cart away to eat. Very Happy
Nathan had we solo wander while I reheated tea. he went up track only 500 yards from camp didnt see any deer but shot large hare..now he "tells" me it was close to Scratch 90 yards away.....from where he fired to where Bec's myself and two dogs were is only 150 yards and we didnt hear a thing,Damn that suppressor is good. Smile Meg then had new learning curve as she slept in tent with Bec's and I,first time in tent and no hasle at all, even if she did crawl up on air mattress this morning and pushed me off the jacket I had for pillow ,what a smooch Very Happy .I got out of frozen tent this morning to a hard frost and went for quick wander alone..lad said it was too cold Shocked !!! got close to deer by look of fresh sign but nothing sighted. both dogs behaved well and stayed in wagon happy as this Arvo while we watched Rachels rep soccer. all in all great quick mid week break and Meg passed with flying colours..but we did find not to fed her a butterscotch lollie as she goes loopie Very Happy ..good to store that away for a hard day pick me up.

You lucky buggers...I would love a week or so out in the bush, in fact I need a break.

It's good that you wee pup is turning out good mate, she will only get better as time goes by.

she got first retrieve of a duck under her belt today...not a long one by any means and it was on dry land..bit of a drag then ran back to me, back to duck bit more of drag then picked it up and carried it to me...huge fuss and pats then let her carry it a tad further. Nathan then plucked it.
Baby steps with Meg as she is still timid as at times.

A gorgeous pup and young mate for Meg mate. I like the last pic where Meg is checking him/her out as if to say…
”You got some big boots to fill here young’un, play your cards right, watch, listen and learn and I’ll put you in good stead.” “Also, look after the old guy…he’s not as good as he thinks, and he needs us.”

Young Poppy is settling in fine, lovely wee bitch, full of beans. Meg is loving having a play buddy,Meg was taken off mum too young and missed out on lots of pack learning...its interesting watching her interact with Poppy the pup...so far so good, very gentle and only a couple of growls, the cat swipped Poppy...and got told one way walk with .12ga if she takes out an eye.....my biggest fear after Nugget went blind too young....
slept pretty much all night,up for pee twice in early hours of morning, out onto cold lawn and she did the biz quick smartly and back into cage, bit of howl and protest at 04:30 but she shut up and was asleep again by 5 so far so good.
will build outside kennel soon enough..too plurry cold to chuck wee bitch out there now...

GWP X Lab & GWP X heading dog/border collie

so with any luck the GWP & Lab will give prey drive...the lab may help with settling down and staying quiet. the border collie SHOULD help with brains dept and also hopefully with keeping trap shut.....
fun times ahead anywhich way.
