Yep and it did not include the 25-06 either. It was only the 243 and the .257 roberts I assume. I brought up the 25-06 and shouldn't have! Now what? Surprised

Have both, like both. Would be hard pressed to make that choice.

That said, the .243 is a good cartridge, but versatile? It is a "damn fine Coyote rifle", to quote St. Elmer. Up to middling mule deer, it goes like a house afire.
Buuuuuut...when you need a little more penetration and reliability, the 25 caliber 120, 117, 115, and 110gr. boolits provide a definite edge. I doubt that deer care all that much, or would even notice. NONE of 'em will bounce off!

The ol'06 is hard to beat as an elk cartridge. cant say I would shoot an elk with a 6mm.....unless it was all I had and I was starving.

I don't know what platform you are looking at but if you are going with a detachable magazine any of the actions and mag combo's for the .308 work well with the .243 as well. But if you are doing a classic in high grade wood the .257 gets the nod, It also feeds a little smoother from most mauser actions, as does the 6mm remington.
