Other websites are singing the praises of the 6BR for varmints, is it really a contender? can it stick it to the 22-250 or 220, or does it run out of puff? I know target shooters shoot great groups out to 500-600 yards but they adjust a lot for drop, how flat are they?

New member, hope to stick around, looks a good site

Well, the BR part of the name means "Bench Rest," so it ought to be accurate enough, and I read in my loading manuals that it produces enough fps to wallop just about any varmint or predator that you want to shoot.

I think the only drawback is you'd be shooting a round that takes some effort to load/reload for. And the bullets would prolly need to be a long one, as the 6 BR is kind of one of the short case long seating type rounds.

If you want to go to the extra effort that it would take, who's to say it is not the hot set up?

HI
1st post and Yep it's a serious varmiter.
The accracy of the 6 BR makes hits a lot easier.

The is a whole website dedicated to the 6MMBR Norma and associated cartridges.

Pm me for the link as I don't want to list another site here- unless I'm allowed to of course.

I'm so impressed with the 6MM BR Norma I'm converting my 22/250 over to one.

Have had a look at website which is great, but seems a little one-eyed. Was looking for a few negative comments Embarassed weighing up the pro's and con's, there aren't too many cons yet. I want my next rifle to be spot on.

Hi
This site was built for the 6BR and expanded from there.

www.6mmbr.com/index.html

Your call.

I'm building 2 ATM.
1 a PD type long range rifle.

and the other a .243 cut down/re-chambered to use from the truck while out spotlighting.

Both with a no turn neck

Welcome ogre.

If I'm not mistaken your avatar comes from Blizzard's Warcraft games?

Prolly, mate sent it to me knowing I post as Ogre on several boards.

not much of a role playing gamer more of a shoot em up type.

I can tell you from many years of experience that the 6BR cannot stay up with the 22-250. The 22-250 is much flatter shooting and will not have to dope much out to 450 yards. With the 6BR you will really have to do some doping at that range. I can also shoot my 22-250 with just about any BR. It will do the job, just some days its the shooter. If you want a serious varmit cartridge, stay with the 22-250. Hard to beat.

Hope this helps,

Gizmo

I think both the 6BR and the 6PPC are excellent varmint rounds, as accurate as you could wish for with the 65 and 70gr. bullets. Certainly they're right on the money as far as I care to shoot. Best wishes.
