When you combine an election year, chances that Obama will push anti-gun legislation in his second term that he was afraid might hurt his reelection chances during his first term, U.N. pushing their own small arms ban treaty, fears of terror attacks and crime, along with a poor economy and what you get is a perfect storm of gun sales. Gun sales are through the roof with almost all major gun manufacturers reporting higher profits and increased production. Last year Ruger became the first commercial firearms company to produce over one million firearms in a year. This year they were able to beat that record by August 15 and still have trouble keeping many models in stock. Personally I work directly with eight guys, two have rekindled their interest in guns and are buying more, two others have become first time gun owners and another is considering his first gun purchase. Some of that may be attributed to my influence, but the majority has to do with the political climate. As one gun dealer told me, Obama is the best thing that ever happened to the gun industry. If the anti-gun crowd has any brains at all, they would vote for a pro-gun candidate.

I agree. The gun shops that I visit are hiring more staff to handle the increased volume of business. There is a brisk trade in good used guns every place I go. Prices are up and climbing higher, but folks keep right on buying guns, ammo and accessories. I listen to customers talk to the clerks about guns and a good percentage are first time buyers. All the best...

Been lookin' at a BAR on a swivel for the turret on my roof. .50 would be nice, but I already reload .30-06 which makes the BAR a better choice.

Tell me about it. Just try and find a bolt carrier group for an AR. They are so scarce, some manufacturers have started having fire sales sans BCG. The purchasers are so excited about the price, they are stunned when they can't find a BCG to make their new purchase functional.

I just stopped at my local smith to pick up some powder and seen his 4 display cases completely empty of used handguns and a wall that held used shotguns and rifles was also barren!! I than asked if he was going out of business and he said no.
He told me everything was sold in the last 2 months and people are buying up new and used guns but are not selling anything back to him. He did have all the powder I needed plus I bought 3K of primers. He also thought that if Obama gets back in he will also see a rash of AR's and other new guns sold.
After I left his shop, I took a quick trip to the pawn shop and they were even all out of used guns. And the owner there told me the same thing, people are hanging on to their firearms and selling other items to come up with cash.
Although I'm glad I took the trip to the pawn shop as I picked up a 410 hand reloader similar to the old Lee 410 reloader for $10.

They had a spot on the tv news this week that the gun industry has thrived the most under the O administration.

The gun show was packed yesterday afternoon! Most I have seen for a Sunday afternoon! The crowd was buying mostly black guns and concealed carry pistols.
