I've never been there...but the sentiments that this website invokes are the same for any city in the 50's and 60's. Brilliant.

I visited Brooklyn in about 1978. I was supposed to stay a week, escaped after two days. Never could figure out why people would want to live like that: all jammed together, very rude, crime.

My first visit was in 1971 and found everybody OK, also watched the towers being built.

My second visit was in April 2011, and found everybody OK, in fact they seemed friendlier. Also went to the former site of the twins. Very nostalgic and choked me up.
