Well, there is little to report! For the second weekend in a row I went to a gun show where the line to get in was so long that we gave up! Last weekend was Greensboro, NC and today's was in Wilkesboro, NC. Instead we went to local gun stores which were also swamped. After all this running around in two weekends I've bought exactly one box of 50 bullets (225 grain Sierra BTs for the .35 Whelen). Now I did have a couple of pretty good BBQ lunches during these trips! Next weekend is a big show in Charlotte, NC so maybe I'll be a little luckier.

Hey Punkin...at least you are out there mate. You would be kicking yourself if you didn't at least try to attend mate...I know I do.

pkslinger, I'm impressed. It sounds like NC has more gun shows than TX.

Why do you think it was so crowded? Nice weather? New laws?

Slim, I'm not 100% sure why the crowd was so large. Part of the problem today was that the building was too small and the fire marshal was restricting access. Poor planning by the organizer I guess.

I also wonder if the new noise from the White House and congressional Dems about gun control has spurred more gun sales (again!).

I should go and visit one of the gun show in the US..

Gun shows here are no where near as exciting..

gelandangan, gun shows are popular enough in the US that a lot more than guns are sold. Lots of survival type items, e.g., solar panels, water purifiers. Then there are vendors of sunglasses (steady for 15+ years), jerky, books, even a local church selling bake goods (they sell out every time).

The shows in Fort Worth are pretty good size. The ones in Dallas are about 4 times bigger and it would probably take all day to cover the tables if not two.

I went to one in Milton Fla. yesterday. It was shoulder to shoulder. Was looking for blackpowder rifles. Found one in terrible, rusty condition. The seller wanted $850.00 for it. It was nothing but a wall hangar. Was really disappointed. Got me a Polish sausage, put some gunpowder on it and went home.

Thats a good one OB, got a couple coming up this month and will head to the western part of the state to see if I can buy some goodies. The second one is in red oak and it just so happens that the wife will be gone visiting family. Very Happy

Damn....I wish our gun shows were like that out here. As Gelan says...nothing of any real value there...courtesy of our moronic firearms laws.

I was just looking at the web site for the location of the Charlotte gun show. They have 72,000 square feet of space and I've seen it almost full before. Everything from hot dogs to .50 BMG rifles for sale (with proper permits of course, those hot dogs can be deadly!).

I've been to a couple of gun shows in Albuquerque when they coincided with my visits.
I'll admit to being unimpressed, with a lot of the tables full of overpriced junk.
