Just under a year ago HuntingNut.com, founded originally in Jan 2000, underwent a huge transformation with a major software upgrade. This new software gave us a great many new and fun abilities that allowed us to grow well beyond what we were before.

Initially, I made the decision to leave forum access open and available to anyone who visited. This I felt, would be easier for visitors to take part in discussion and help stimulate the forum section of the website to grow quickly. It worked!



We now have quite a few really terrific people who visit regularly, contributing and taking part in alot of interesting and funny discussions. Help is usually but a short question a way. Over 98% of the posters are currently registered members of the site, and while we always attract new members (currently averaging 5 new members every day), we are seeing fewer and fewer "visitors" posting. Generally new people take a look around, like what they see and register right from the beginning.

Lately however, as HuntingNut's popularity increases, we are beginning to attract some of the internets riff-raff and spammers. To combat this we've added in new moderators that are doing a great job keeping an eye on things.

Additionally, I feel its a good time to make the forums Postable and Replyable by registered members only. I am sorry if this inconvienences anyone too much. This will dramatically reduce the amount of spam we get because the spammers just dont have the interest and desire to register just to post a silly message The forums will remain readable and otherwise accessable to new visitors.

Sounds ok to me. Besides a couple of the "guest" posts were mine . I forgot I hadn't logged in. Other sites require it and take you to a log in page if you haven't signed in.

I agree as well Dallan with the spam posts getting worse thats about the only way to stop it. I think it was a good move and shouldn't be a inconveniance for new people at all. Regestering is fast and easy.
