Wiersy, I made the top of my bench from a piece of 3/4" plywood then ran a 2x6 from the front of the bench's 2x4 frame to the back, under where I mounted my presses. The presses then bolt down through the plywood and the 2x6 brace. I'll try to get a pic soon.

I'm of the theory that most presses are designed in a manner that most of the pressure is absorbed within and the bench is more or less just a mounting point.
In the past I've had presses mounted to less than desirable setups that worked just fine as long as they were anchored to something to keep them from moving.

The "pressure" transmitted to the bench is in the form of torque. The length from the handle of the lever to the mounting point in feet times the amount of force used at the handle divided by 1/2 the depth of the base. It varies too much to give an exact number but for a typical full length sizing of a 3006 I would say that it is around 180 foot pounds with the press mounted directly to the bench at maximum pull.
More lube, loose die, soft case can all change that dramatically. I found early on that I either needed to bolt my bench to the wall or have supports that kept my bench fom rocking as I formed cases or full length sized cases. After having to leav two well built benches behind when I moved I came up with a stable portable bench design:

That is a picture of a friend's bench made from the plans (and modified to fit his area) but the basic design is the same. It is able to be picked up and moved through standard 36" doors in one piece or diassembled into the top, seat, and sides to be transported easily.
I have three of them in my reloading room and a couple of cabinets too. I have to build a shelf that will connect the cabinets and then it will be finished - for now.

Ya might want to consider putting it on the market. There are still some die hards out there willing to pay for what has seemed to all but disappear !!!

There is no such thing as over kill. I ran some old 30-06 down to 25-06 last night just to see if the press moved at all being elevated..... not so much as a wiggle.

Oh the heck with you guys and your messy benches and all the engines you have rebuilt. That's what I did for a living and hobby.
Besides...I'm in one of my better moods tonight. Wife just passed her CCW course...Kind of proud of the lady. Turned in a 15 round 3" group with my Second Generation Woodsman and a 15 round 8" group with her .38 Special Mod 10-5 2" barrel.
