It wont reduce recoil... but if you want to reduce noise I'd fill it with spray foam Smile

Hey hareraiser

There are recoil compensators which you can put in your buttstock to reduce recoil. To my knowledge there are 2 different kinds, mechanical recoil compensators

www.edwardsrecoilreduc.../index.htm

and mercury recoil compensators

www.mercuryrecoil.com/...tm#top#top

They are removable if installed correctly. I glass bedded 2 mechanical compensators in the butt of an HS Precision stock for a 338RUM rebarrel

and they help a lot. Could be just the extra weight as much as anything else though.

I have a Tikka T3 Lite with a synthetic stock and appreciate how light the rifle is. It makes it much easier to handle and carry in the field. It does kick a lot more so I fitted it with a Limbsaver recoil pad.

Limbsaver Recoil Pads

I liked them so much I but them on my other rifles and slug guns as they do a nice job of softening the recoil. They also provide templates so you can see how well their different shapes fit your gun before you buy.

My suggestion - stuff it with "peanuts" and cap it with a Limbsaver.

There are only 2 ways to reduce recoil !!! Add weight to the gun or slow the bullet down.
Here's a recoil calculator

All the other methods do nothing but change felt/perceived recoil.
In my opinion the best method is the muzzle brake but it comes with the addition of noise.

Mercury reducers will not work as good in the cold as they do in warmer weather.

Dallan, I learned that one from an archery hunter that had a noisy climbing stand !!! It works !!!
