I just became aware that the 48th edition of the Lyman loading manual has load info for the .40 S&W for use in carbines. If anyone has this info I sure would appreciate you passing it along to me. I have a Ruger PC4 I'll be loading for.

Thanks!

No takers on this one, huh... I just put a Millett "DMS" scope on the PC4. Its a neat scope with an illuminated "dot in a doughnut" reticle.

Mike, you should be able to use the pistol data !!!

The only time I've seen it listed different was with the 9mm sub guns when they wanted to keep them sub-sonic.

Also do you understand the fully supported and non supported chambers with the 40cal. ???

Chambered, yep, I'm using pistol data now but saw that Lyman #48 had info specifically for carbines and I wanted to see what differences there might be. I've chronoed one load in the carbine that pushed a 135 gr JHP at 1880 ft/sec. Right now I'm leaning toward the 155-165 grain bullets in the carbine.

I'm aware of the supported/non-supported chamber issue. Thanks for the reminder though!

That’s smoking !!! Shocked
What powder are you using ? From what I’ve seen it looks best to run the slowest powders in the carbines along with medium to light weight bullets.

Have you noticed (in your data) that light and target loads in a carbine length barrel could actually have less velocity than a pistol !!!

The fast load is a 135 grain Nosler JHP over 11.8 grains of Hodgdon Longshot, CCI Primer. I'll have to hunt the OAL, I didn't put it in PointBlank for some reason. A friend chronoed that load in a 5" pistol and got 1500 ft/sec. The load came from Hodgdon.

I haven't tested any light or target loads in the carbine.

Just saw this post Mike, and I went to my Lyman 49th Book that I just got.

Nothing on what you want.

I don't have the 48th Edition.

Sorry.

Gimme more data Pumps, I'll run it through Quickload.
Barrel length, powder type, projectile type and your target velocity.
