Sorry folks but I've been gon a bit. Had some medical problems and major computer problems. I'm better and so is the computer. Hope to see yall around. Got to get back in shape quick, not much time before Muzzleloading season opens. Dove yesterday so here we go again.

PS - The Nutria are starting to get bold now that I haven't been after them for a while. Got to use the friends 50 BMG Thursday on what appeared to be the biggest one I've seen yet, all we found was the remains of the right front leg (about 5 inches worth), will have to get back further than 30 yards. We gave ourselves a second shower and found the remains behind us! Shocked

Ken, a .50 calibre is DOWNSIZING for flinty! He must think it strange that he can see what he shot at less than five minutes after the bang! Smile

I've been toying with the Idea of a new muzzleloader from October Country, they have an 8 bore and a 4 bore. Wonder what they would be like?? Flame

Hi Flinty, I've used both and one thing I CAN tell you is that you don't want to carry those monsters very far! The 4 bore I was using was a single barrel, around 46" long and percussion cap. I think it weighed in at around 17lbs. The 8 bore was double barrelled ans was around 40" and when that was swinging it was damned hard to stop! Neither gun had a particularly vicious kick, like all smokepoles it was more of a steady push than the violent jerk you get from nitro bases. Ammunition is going to be a bitch too, that's another lot of weight to cart around. Why not just mount a punt gun on an ATV? That would suit you (and maybe put some food on the table for a change :)) nicely! Ha! Seriously though, don't forget that with a 4 bore each round weighs 4oz. That's a lot to put in your pockets if you're going out for a day's shooting. Nice to see you back mate, have you got the marks from the forceps off the computer yet? Regards,
