Do Glocks use a steel magazine or a plastic one? No joke...Just curious...I've had problems with failure to eject and stovepipes on one of my firearms and found that it was a magazine feed lip problem. A quick solve.

Hey Bushy, one quick solution is to get rid of the Glock and get a Smith & Wesson M&P.

Hey 'Hoffy...Right now the only M&P that I recognize is the Mod 10 ( I have three)...It's like the Dodge Aspen. Now Chrysler is coming out with the Chrysler Aspen. Aspen belongs to Dodge same as M&P belongs to S&W Mod 10s.

Besides I think we're stuck with Glocks for the moment...I have a feeling we are stuck with "plastic" (polymar) guns too...

Bushmaster: Glock magazines are metal, coated with polymer.

d_hoffman: The S&W M&P has been getting rave reviews and many consider it among the best of the polymer frame guns. The current issue of "Guns and Ammo, Handguns" rates it above H&K 2000, XD, Glock. Interchangeable backstraps, ergonomic fit, and a truly superb trigger for a striker fire are strong points. The M&P won, but, not by much. All these firearms are "duty" rated.

Production batches of any manufacturer can be substandard. Recalls get issued, problems get addressed and we move on. Glock's dominance in law enforcement is under no threat. While I am no fan of Glock, I have never had a problem with function and reliability in thousdands of rounds. Still, anyone relying on a firearm for their life or that of others should put hundreds of rounds through it to assure that firearm is flawless before putting into duty.

Thanks Handloader...Thought so. Glock has been having a bit of a problem with one of their models, I think the Glock 22, but not sure. Two police departments have had to send around a thousand of them back to the factory for stovepiping problems...

I am,also, not a Glock fan. I have, however, heard much good reports on the S&W M&P...It's good to see an American gun company make good again.

I have a total of four S&Ws. They are all Wheel guns. In this area S&W is hard to beat anytime...

Bushmaster: I know two guys that own indoor firing ranges and rent handguns for range useage. Asked what was the most reliable double action wheel gun they rented, both stated S&W. Without hesitation.

S&Ws made after 1989 have increased endurance reliability and the latest iteration with the added strength bolsters are capable of a lifetime of full magnum loads without frame stretch. I love those old Smiths and have a few, but, for practice and field use, I grab the new models. And, they are superb. Barrels are EDM and tolerances are tighter than ever.

Onward, Smith & Wesson!! (back in American hands)
