Hi, My father wants to give me his uncles Marlin L/A 22LR, evidently its 15 shot, and has a gold trigger, made around 1960, any ideas as to what model this may be, also it has the original scope still in its wrapping, unused, the rifle has fired less than 50 rounds since new, any info appreciated.

Marlin has made the 39 for a long time, and that's very likely what you have.
They are very fine rifles.

when you get it, I would suggest a very through cleaning. mine tends to gum up pretty quick. err every 1k rounds or so needs very through cleaning... something like that

I read that they gum up up quicker than most, take me a while to get though a 1000 rounds though, lol. But they are easy to pull apart i read.

very easy to strip. if you like I could take some pictures for you. my only issue with it is the length of the stock puts my hand in an unnatural state which causes cramping. could fix that but putting a 1 inch pad on it though.

Thanks bodyalter, would be appreciated, i live 800kms from the nearest city, so any pics diagrams etc would be great. I am told to only use LR ammo, is this the case, we have ammo called Zs here, tiny little things, be good for cleaning out some feral cats around here, but dont want to stuff the action/firearm up by using it.
