Picked up a shotgun and 2 small revolvers this weekend at an auction.

The shotgun is a model 240 Stevens 410 o/u shotgun 3" chambers with 2 hammers, 2 triggers and a broken stock. Crying or Very sad This is the first time I've seen a model 240 stevens shotgun and the fore end part is ok, the rear stock was broken pretty good as the auctioneer told me they were made out of Tenite. So now I have to try and find a replacement stock.

The 2 revolvers are 1 is a 38cal BP with the name FOREHAND ARMS CO. WORCESTER MASS.U.S / PAT'D DEC.7 '86 & JAN.11.87 Revolver was nickel plated but is flaking off. I'm still trying to find info on this gun.

The last gun was a 22 short revolver that was made by a german company that starts with the name "rohm". This thing looks like a toy gun.

I pick them up on Wednesday.

Photos please!! Those sound interesting, broken stock might be a fun project, what the heck is Tenite (just looked it up...thermoplastic cellulostic stuffin stuff) Maybe you could make a wooden replacement, or use some epoxy. I guess nickel plating could be re-done, but you'd probably have to remove the remainder of what's on it. This should be fun, what was the final bid? Come-on do tell

Here's one on GunBroker in 32S&W

u/o .410 sounds good but 2 hammers has got me puzzled Ive never seen an u/o with hammers? photos please.have you got kneed it in stores over there? it comes in a canister about an inch round and foot long you kneed it then mould it to shape and it sets like concrete. the adds for it had a hammer made out of it. I put some on a stock to raise it and it was VERY tough stuff. it may do the job as a last resort.

Hey Suz and Elvis, as soon as I pickup the guns on Wednesday morning (maybe I'll take 4 hours off tomorrow and pick them up) I will post pictures.

Same here SUz, just found out that it was "Kodak" that invented the tenite (for a camera maybe?) and stevens used this on this model. Yes Suz thats the gun I won, but it's 38 caliber. And Suz, just for you, I paid $48 for all 3 guns as nobody was bidding but me.

Yup Elvis it does have 2 hammers, when I looked at the shotgun, the stock was completely shattered at least half of it. But before the auction started, I looked at the stevens and opened up the shotgun and barrel was clean and both extractors were working.

Omi, better check the timing on that Rohm. I think I have something like that somewhere, tried it once and it made keyholes at 5 m! Pull the hammer and check how much play the cylinder still has... maybe 1 day when I have lot's af time and nothing to do, I will try to make another part that's blocking the cylinder, something that fits like it should from the beginning. But on the other hand: the rawmaterials used on such a revolver are not worth to spend the extra work.

And for that stock: maybe try the stock of another Stevens? I got such an Browning Auto 5 in cal 20 with a broken stock and I tried the stock of an Auto 5 in cal 12: bingo! Now I know: forehand doesnt fit, cal 12, 16 and 20 have different diameters, stock is the same if it's about the same model.

FOREHAND ARMS CO. evidently was bought out by Hopkins and Allen. I am guessing that it is .38 S&W (not Special). Do a Google search on FOREHAND ARMS CO. Seems to be a fair amount of info out there.

Rohm (also branded as RG) was a German company that made revolvers during the '60s and '70s which many point to as the reason the term "Saturday Night Specials" was invented. Their quality was pretty much all over the board. Some were OK, others were junk. Timing, chamber dimensions and alignment were often issues.

The stevens is at the smith getting checked out and he said he may just have a stock for it. He thought the overall condition was very good on the 410. He looked at the rohm 22 short revolver and laughed, I told him it came with the package. Very Happy After a quick clean and step outside to his backyard range, the little 22 managed 3" groups at 10' for 6 shots off a rest. The 38 will never be shot as it is worn and will probably buy some chemicals to get the flaky nickel plating off and display it.
