SWMBO was is a good mood yesterday so I took full advantage and hurried off to the local sports shop. The strong Kiwi $/weak American means that prices are the lowest Ive ever seen. $399 NZ for a vx1 3x9x40mm leupold was just too good to pass up so now both my centerfires have that magic golden ring on the glass wear. my .270 has the new one and the .223 has an older vx2 3x9x50mm. only problem is thats one less excuse for missing now.SWMBO has said I better get my butt out and find some venison for the freezer now. woohoo a great reason to get out I do think. Very Happy

Good for you Elvis! It sounds like a great deal on a good scope. I have the same one, and I love it.

I only have leupold scopes on my rifles. My Sabatti 6,5x55 has the 100 yrs aniverery 3-9x40, my brand new Browning x-bolt comp. stalker in 7mm rem mag has the VX3 3,5-10x40 CDS. And my brand new remington seven predator 22-250 has the VXR 4-12x50. Also have a VX2 2-7x33 thats not in use atm.
All great scopes that has never failed me.

I had a look at lupold vx 1 and a redfield revolution the other day, its going on the CZ 550.
I couldnt pick the difference, both were clear edge to edge, sharp image in both.
I ended up with the Redfield as I liked the thinner reticle better than the one in the VX1.
Both good scopes.
It seems we are still paying "whatever the market will bear" regardless of what the pacific peso is doing, Leupold pricing here is about what you paid Elvis and our dollar is 25% stronger than yours against the greenback.

the deal on the scope was from Hunting & Fishing our biggest sporting goods franchise so they have carved a good deal by buying bulk. the redfields look to be a good scope too. I went with Leupold cause Ive wanted another for ages and the service they provide is 2nd to none.keep us all informed on how the redfield goes.

Will do,although I'm still waiting for the permit to aquire to process, so it will be several weeks yet.
I'm a bit of a luddite when it comes to optics, apart from getting old and chemo effected, I only realy notice a difference when I get into the swaro and zeiss territory, and then I prefer the swaro.
Having said that I couldnt pick the difference between a pair if swaro 10x42 and a set of steiner hunter 10x42, I ended up with the steiners at 1/4 the price.
I'm also suffering the champange taste and beer income dilema.
Anyway glad you scored a good deal and are happy with the outcome, luepolds are a well respected brand.

Cheers
