Last night I downloaded the latest version and it won't open on my Win7 laptop, or my WinXP desktop, or a friends WinVista desktop.

Odd, it runs on all three of those OS's that I've tested at my house.

On windows 7 / vista, Try right clicking both executables, open the properties, Compatability tab, and check the Run as an Administrator box.

Make sure XP has the .NET pack installed.

Tried that on my Win7 laptop, and my WinXP desktop has all .net installed.

It does create the backup folder, although there is nothing in it. Keep in mind these were on puters with no other version of PB installed.

Interesting. It sounds like you are missing files. Are you running the PBPatcher.exe program to make sure all the latest files exist? You should have at least the following files:

PBPatcher.exe
PointBlank.exe
bullets.slk
calibers.slk
cases.slk
powders.slk
primers.slk
target.bmp (plus a few more)

And a folder with HTML help files.

AH HA! Found the problem... will get a fix out ASAP. Sorry, it only happens when run for the very first time (a bug in the new data backup feature I just added).

I ran the patcher then launch, I ran the .exe, same thing. If I delete the backups folder it will recreate it, but nothing after that.

Fixed. Re-run PBPatcher.exe and it will download v2.0.9.2

I am embarassed I didn't catch that bug when I tested the prior version, ah well it was a very easy and quick fix. Thanks for alerting me to the problem!

No problem! I am eager to test drive the latest and greatest, the last version I used was 1.0 something.
