..always mate...always, but its too far to travel to where you fish, and I don't think my bait would be fresh when I arrive. Very Happy Laughing

YES!! have to wait till April tho. Then you can fish for salmon and trout. Actually right now the sturgeon fishing has everyone on the Columbia waiting in backed up lines to get to the boat ramps. Don't know how good the fishing is but there's tons of fishermen and women waiting to get one. The rivers are too muddy right now to fish but I guess the spring chinook and the steelheads have started coming up the rivers.

You got plans Dimi?

Suz

Vince,

I generally use artificial baits, so no spoiling.

Suzanne,

Thinking of trying my luck on Yellow Perch, its actually alittle late to catch them spawning, that seems to have happened the last 2 weeks but can't hurt to try.

Elvis,

SWMBO wants to go fishing too. Need to get her a license now.

gelan,

I realize you are in summer now, but just wait a few months and it should get alittle colder. Laughing

fishing.

the ultimate father/son bonder. i remember fishing with pop in streams out here, before the loony's came and took our land away. we were lucky we lived by the ocean so, we did a lot of ocean fishing off the breakwalls and such. we had to drive a little farther for our lake and stream fishing, but, we never missed it either way. up before dwan, hit Red's Bait and Tackle, grab some coffee, cocoa and donuts then hit the rocks or the hwy for the canyons.

i remember the sights, sounds and smells...

stream fishing had it's wet moss and leaf smell with sage blowing in down the canyons. quail, mockers, etc all singing up a storm celebrating the day with the sounds of a babbling stream running between my legs. trout was on the menu, dad showed my how to cook it up streamside w/ taters, spices, peppers and lemon. sometime's i'd almost fall asleep standing there till something took my line, be it a fish or my buddy..."wake up sleepyhead!" i remember the thrill of landing a little one on 2# test and no losing it in the rushes.

ocean had it's own stimuli. i remeber the oiled potato sacks we put our catch in, the smells of low tide on the exposed rocks and reefs and the sounds for the swell coming in, and, getting wet on big days. i bait casted for small stuff like opal eye, greenies and such. dad tossed the big rig going for yellow tail and bonito. when he'd hook up it was game on i can remeber vividly the rush as he faught to land it and not loose it in the car sized rocks as i held the bag knowing i better, the big 9' pole bent almost in two for what seemed like hours. not drop it- i'd rather go down between the rocks than loose the old man's dinner. i was very afraid of falling between these huge rocks as a kid- but, when there was a fresh one on, that disapeared. be scared later, we're bringing something in. i remeber shark fishing off the barge a mile or so off the coast. i remember hooking up with big blues and the old man running over with the bat.

i remember the afternoon's cleaning sessions, firing up the bbq, breading ab steaks, yellow tail, trout. while i waited for dinner the coversation got louder and dad and his pal's had a few cold ones and us kids would be on the fringe listening to their b.s. sessions. then, we'd sup and hit the hay.

i remember a few years ago fishing with him for the last time on lake roosevelt. we trolled for trout and walleye. caught some rainbows too. i remember the lunches mom made up, the smells of the pines, osprey nests prodcuing dive bobmers that will take your cath should it slip the hook, the long days in the 12'er lazily buzzing back and forth taking it all in- knowing he's not gonna be with me much longer. better make it count. i'm beein' greedy and spendin it all with him.

i miss the old guy. i miss our time's together draggin' lure's, flinging big deep water rigs and just floating a worm from a hand-line.

fishing is the ultimate father son bonder. take yer kidds, they'll remember. i never forgot.

That was a good story Stovie, I remember the time well with my Dad and my kids. The wife just can't get use to putting bait on a hook but she does fish and helps clean em so thats a plus. Smile The kids loved ice fishing also and the best part is that the wife and I transfered all the movies of us camping, fishing, and hunting and put it all on 14 dvds and made copies and gave all 4 sons a copy. Yeah the wife had a camera everywhere we went outdoors, and anytime we want we can go back in time just popping the dvds into the player. Smile

Ice is still over 30" thick at my favorite lake. Going to be another 6 weeks before iceoff. Just bought a pair of new trolling poles and reels, cant wait to try them out.

D we but a family licence each year its only a few $ more than a single full season licence and it covers the whole family. we usually fish as a family.after we get our house shift done we will just have to find time, come to think of it I will feed out some grain for the ducks too.

No family licenses here, but none the less bought the girlfriend her own rod yesterday and went fishing for a hour today, she was quick to learn to cast, but no fish and the winds picked up so she wanted to grab coffee.

Water is still too cold I think, but warming fast, should be good soon.

Dimitri
