I just got home from a Civil War living history program at Bolton Elementary in Winston-Salem, NC. It was a great and successful effort from the fine folks of the 49th NC Troops. We had 10 reenactors on hand. Thanks to them for inviting me! The kids seemed to have a good time and asked some great questions. The only fly in the ointment was having to explain Civil War weapons to the kids using a toy wooden gun! Seems that the city passed a law that prohibits weapons on school grounds for educational purposes. It sure is a shame that "political correctness" has become so much more important than accurate education.

I no longer surprised at the idiots who are in charge of our children.
Imagine there is a preschool in this land of Oz that reckon "Baa Baa Black Sheep" is racist,
so now the kids got to sing "Baa Baa RAINBOW Sheep" ..
What a bloody moron!!
Those pervert should never get a job near any kids, lest they poison them innocent minds with their stupidity.

I can remember many times when I would have a rifle in the back of my car in High School so that I could head for the field as soon as school let out...guess I was a felon-in-waiting by today's standards.

That law probably came about after that DEA agent............the one that was "The only one professional enough in this room" to handle the Glock .40 !!!

You know we have that issue here to. My daughter goes to the school where I took my Hunters safety course and where her principal did as well and now they cannot have it there due to gun laws and scholl campuses. Seems to me that what better place to teach hunter stafety then a school.

As a short term solution I'm thinking about making a wooden replacement for my musket barrel and see if that would get past the law. After all, its not a gun if its made of wood. The real solution is to get the law changed to something a little more sensible.
