As light as it is it just might kick a little

Kick like a mule! I've shot a light 12 ga with slugs before and it knocked the glasses off my face!

Yes it does Shocked . I did a lot of shooting Sunday (including 30 rounds of 12 ga slugs ) and didn't realize how sensitive my shoulder was until after the first round this mornin but this gun feels good it fits me much better. With that said I definitly feel this gun will shoot better than I shot it today. It shot the win platinum 400 grain and the Fed 3/4 oz Barnes expander slugs just under 3" groups at 75 yds the POI was almost identical witch is good . The SST's did not shoot well.So I will pick one of the two and adjust the scope to it and stock up over the summer. This definitly isn't a weekend shooter .

I'll stick with the 2 3/4" loads for slugs in a M870 shotgun, as mentioned in another post where I shot the new Remington Loads I can just imagine what a 3 1/2" slug feels like. Smile

Well the guy backed out of the deal with the 1187 I guess his son decided he wants it witch is fine , The Guy still wants to buy my Mossberg though Very Happy . When we first got this property and I started to think about a slug gun I told my buddy I just need to pay the money for a fully rifled cantilever barrel for my 12 GA 1100 and be done with it . I love my 1100 very comfortable with it but Ive bin trying different approaches to no avail so I found a pretty good price on a barrel and ordered it. That new H@R is nice but it kicks the crap out of ya ( my shoulder is still sore Very Happy ) . It wasn't to expensive though so I may keep it as a back up or let my buddy use it..Hopefully this barrel for my 1100 will be the ticket ..
Joe

How long do you want your "buddies" to hang around?

Whilst doing a search for a 12g roll crimper, I came across this website...thought it may be of interest to the slug shooters here.

American Slug Shooters

I watched the Hastings Laser Accurate Slugs video at the bottom of the page...very interesting and impressive accuracy.

Still looking for a quality affordable roll crimper so I'll keep searching. Also looking for a set of Uncle Mike's Shotgun Sling Swivels for an O/U. Plenty of them out there, but I have yet to find an outlet that will ship to Australia. I might have to resort to buying a set over here at the inflated price...around $40.

Cheers, Vince

Vince, I have such an old device for cal 16 but I know I saw somewhere such an easy thing to put in your (battery-operated) drillingmachine that was not so difficult to make yourself. When I can find that info again I will let you know. It's not so difficult once you understand how it operates: you have the nice form to guide the crimp and on 2 places at the bottom of that cut a small cilinder (nail?) to add frictionheat to the shell.

The pictures of the old memorybank were gone, I asked to mail them to me when they are still available.

Meanwhile check this and you immediatly understand what I was trying to explain earlier:

Thanks for the link .. I saw a roll crimper somewhere that atached to a drill but I can't remember where I saw it . It came with sabots as a kit for reloading slugs..
