The Ptarmigan are flocking up and moving out of the mountains. Tricky little guys. They are already starting to change colors. Their tail feathers are changing to brown. The seasons are about to change.

We still need snow.

longwalker, don't know how I missed this one back in March. I always had an affection for this bird. Just trying to say Ptarmigan is a challenge. Hope you had a good hunting and fishing through the Spring and Summer. What do you plan on hunting this fall?

Fishing has been good. Salmon by net and rod & reel. Trout by rod and reel. Today, caught my first Grayling ! Tricky little guys, about 40 miles from town. The past 6 weeks, we have had a lot of rain. Water is high and dirty.

Moose opens on the first, Caribou is open now.

Alaska surely is the Great Outdoors! I almost didn't come back when I visited a few years ago. Thanks for the update. Have a good hunting season.

That's what I did when I went fishing for a weekend in VT. Got a PO Box on Monday and called work to tell tham where to mail my last check.
I haven't dared take a trip to Alaska for that reason - so sure I would do the same again.

Marty!! Now I know how to handle it! Thanks! I always said I wouldn't go to Alaska unless I was going to stay there. Too much trouble to drive there and once you got there you'd be up to your armpits in nature and beauty, who'd wanta leave? Me and a high school friend of mine have always talked about going up there for a road trip, and I can't say I can afford to do that but if I was going to stay there.....that's different. Haveta get me a buffalo blanket for the winter..... Plenty to keep you busy up there. Wonder how long the average stay is up there. I bet it's not too long because of the long winters. I don't like cold all that much.....well I could get a summer home up there I guess, what with all that huge income I have......not.

Suz

The are a hardy breed in Alaska. If you hear the term, I haven't gone Outisde for the past 15 years, its not what you would expect. To an Alaskan, going Outside means going south out of the state, especiall to get away from the cold and snow in the winters.
