Oooooh Stovey - That is one fine-looking hand cannon. Makes mine look like a poor man's gun. |
I'm a HUGE fan of shorty's and I'm looking forward to your project.
I know of a lot of little things to do to these that add up. But I'd never try and refinish a pistol. I do not have that kind of talent nor am I that brave to take a tool to the outiside of one...
For any pistol work beyond my ablility I trust David White (deersniper) @ D and T Custom Gunworks. He got ol' "Boomer" working like a champ. Give him an e-mail or call him w/ any ? you have. Good, honest, Christian American gunsmith.

Now you made me want to take the BFR out for a day of "plinking".
Down to the man cave to cook up some 45-70's. Hopefully I won't make any kids cry this time.

The concussion of the ammo.....
The flame comming from the muzzle.....
The evil laughter coming from the man with the gun?

My three girls never cried over
The concussion of the ammo.....
The flame comming from the muzzle.....
The evil laughter coming from the man with the gun?
As pre-teens they all loved shooting that Ruger .44 - and they had the evil laughter to go with it, too. Now (in their twenties) they all prefer shooting semiautos, especially the M&P 40.

Got my order from Brownell's with the parts I need to proceed. They include a Bisley hammer, standard steel grip frame (the aluminum one was so pitted the by the time I got all of the pits out the trigger guard was paper-thin), steel ejector rod housing, front sight and grips. Just in time too...if I don't order from Brownell's on a fairly regular basis they think I died. Hoping to have the Ruger done by the end of next week or first part of the following one. It all depends on time and Mama's "Honey-Do list".
