I have read an article or two and visited the website. The Stevens Model 200 looks a lot like a Savage Model 110, but at a lower price. I have a Savage 110 and it is a real shooter. The Stevens Model 200 looks a lot better that a Remington Model 710. All the best...

True...No accutrigger. Bought one for my boy in 7mm-08. First day out I shot 3 different loads. All under 3/4" at 100 yds. It is basically a Savage 110. Accurate! Shocked

I haven't shot one yet, but I have sold quite a few. They are pretty plane-jane. I haven't heard any complaints yet. I believe it is the same barrel and action (less accu-trigger) as a Savage 111 Series Rifle.

Personally, even though they are attractively priced, I don't think I would by one. The biggest turn-off is the stock. It feels really, for lack of a better term, cheap. Maybe flimsy(sp) is a better word. But, if a gun in that price range is all you can afford, it would definently be better than nothing.

I bought a new Stevens 200 in 30-06 a couple of months back. It shoots 1 1/2" group @100 yds with Remington Core Locks. I like the pillar mounted stock, even if it is a bit cheap looking. I think that some epoxy in the fore arm might help it a bit. I also plan on installing an SSS trigger this spring, and a metal trigger guard (I can't stand those plastic ones). I may change the stock too, but since the gun's principle use will be for hunting, I'm not going to be too fussy about getting anything better than sub MOA with it.

I have two of the Stevens 200s. I bought them to get the actions and I sold the barrels and will the stocks. There is no functional difference from the Savage except the lack of Accutrigger.

The trigger on the Stevens is really nasty (in my opinion).

I shot the one in 243 Winchester before I tore it apart and I wasn't impressed with the accuracy (1.5-2.5" 5 shots at 100YD) but considering it is a $239-$279 rifle, it isn't bad as is.

I installed a Douglas barrel and a 12BVSS stock I had on hand and it is a fine shooter.

Savages all shoot according to my experience. If the looks of the stock bug you then do this

Had #8 done to my 270 WSM.

Cool The Stevens is nothing more than a Pre-Accutrigger Savage. All parts are interchangeable. Also after market triggers, barrels, stocks etc..

The Tupperware stock needs work to be more user friendly here is a link with story & pictures. This is basiclly what I have done to my Savage Tupper Stocks and they work very well now with very little flex if any.

There are a few after market triggers available but the one that I use is made by Sharp Shooters Supply, very easy to install, just follow the supplied directions and you will have an unbelievable trigger. IMO this is the best on the market, BAR NONE. SSS triggers are a 3 Lever Design, the same as the Jewell for the Remington that is used by most Benchrest Shooters.

Well, now I have another Savage project rifle for the winter, building a .358 Winchester on a long action mainly to use the Nosler 225gr BT. I'll post pics when done. Cool Cool
