Heey English Mike, I agree whenever someone asks me for an opinion on a first pistol I always bring up a 75 based design the simplicity of operation combined w "growed on ya" ergonomics is lethal. Wanna see my B.H.P. ? I'll wait for a response out of respect for Bushy's sensitive eyes.
You mean Mattel didn't make those early sorry a$$ M16s.

I was in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1986. None of the ships or shore stations that I served at had any other .45 ACP pistols with sights other then the ones that Big D posted. Not even the Seals. After the Beretta was adopted the Seals did get a "special issue" .45 ACP, but it wasn't from Colt. And it certainly wasn't a secret...

The newer .45's issued to the SEALs were HK USP Tactical, if I remember correctly.

I wouldn't make a brash statement like that whittling. I prefer 1911 platform pistols when carrying only because I am quite familar with them and their operating levers, buttons and function. With that said. I also carry revolvers on ocasion.

You're young yet and have no idea what you will have to choose from in the future or what you will carry when you reach age to carry...

I'm no where near as old as Bushy but, I'll have to agree with him again (this is starting to become a habit). I'm looking at getting a short barreled .45 and a Charter Arms .44 Bulldog for concealed carry.

OK D tell me then where does your US Army knowledge base come from?
Not every thing in the Army's arsenal is published in black and white for public viewing.
Actually small arms are far from a secret, in fact I do have most US Army manuals on small arm repair and allowed repairs, anything above that is done by the armorer themselves and is not a standard modification that is allowed by the regulations.

But what ever floats your boat, US Army contracts are plain as day in the public record.
