I`ve tried most of the UK`s game and a fair few vermin as well as `gator(very nice too)
However my favourite is woodcock traditional style-in which all the bird is eaten except the gizzard and bones. It is roasted whole (except for the gizzard)with bacon over the breast and when done the trail(the gut)is mashed into the pan juices and moistened with a glass of port. This mixture is spread on a slice of toast and the bird is presented on top, there is some arguement about whether the brain is mixed into the trail or eaten separately, personally I like it masheed into the trail but each to their own.
Yummy

Have tried all sorts of weird things, but not as many of the deer family as the rest of you guys.

Only deer I have tried is:
Fallow -great bbq
Red -great

As for other things:
Kangaroo -really tasty depending on the age and cut
Emu -nice, especially minced and baked in a pie
Crocodile -great
Snake -okay
Green sea turtle -to die for, marinated in garlic and soy sauce then bbq'd
Dugong (Sea Cow) -very greasy, not very nice at all
Rabbit -really great cooked properly. Prefer it in a stew or casserole
Hare -bit tough and stringy
Wild pig -if it is clean (no parasites/worms) then it is magnificent. Homemade venison and wild pork sausages are fantastic. DROOL Love
Goat -Best roast I ever had was a leg of young goat.
Wild duck -will only fillet them otherwise ho hum.
Quail -they are awesome but the toothpick sized drumstick means you need heaps of them for a decent feed
Pheasant -what can you say..superb
Snails -very nice sauteed in garlic butter
Witchety Grub -a bit like roasted nuts but pretty good
Possum -not too bad
Fish -Salt water..any of the white flesh, non oily fish are great especially a nice Knobby Snapper. Don't go much on the blood fish or oily fish.
Prawns, Bugs and Lobster - drooling again
Crab -so so...meat is a bit sweet for my liking
Fish -Fresh water..can take em or leave em....usually leave em.
Freshwater crayfish, Yabbies, Marron - awesome (damn this drooling)

When in South East Asia with the Army I reckon I ate some weird stuff. Pretty sure we had monkey - nice in kebabs, and cat (don't even want to think about that!)

Have to try Dove after what I have read in here. Don't know if they are the same small grey dove we have over here in Oz though.

As many others have said, the method of storing the meat and the method of cooking can greatly enhance or ruin what would otherwise be a nice piece of meat.
For instance; the best way to prepare a pink and grey cockatoo is to boil it with a good sized stone. When the stone is soft, throw the bird away and eat the stone.

But then again if you are hungry enough you will eat crap if it is cooked properly. Never got that hungry though...thank goodness.

Cheers, Vince

Hey dogsdanglers, I am a piper and have had haggis on many ocassions, usually at Burns nights with Athol Brose, and can't get enough of it, especially with neeps. My daughter is currently a Chef in the Sheraton in Edinburgh and she is bringing home all sorts of good recipes at the end of the year...she especially loves haggis pizza.
Wanted to try hunting haggis when I was in Scotland but nobody would tell me where they can be found. Said it is a closely guarded secret.

Cheers Vince

Mountain Lion is tasty...kind of a cross between chicken and a porkchop.
