I am shooting and loading for a 6mm 30-30 AI that I shoot on a Contender frame. The round requires considerable case forming, neck turn and shortening. I made up my own dies using some cheap dies from other rounds and modfiying them to do what I need to form and size brass. Its probably the hottest 6mm round your can fire in a Contender and its smokin accurate. It is a coyote and prairie dog nightmare with 58 gr. Vmaxs.

I keep away from wildcats and rare rounds-I like common powerhouse rounds 30-06 ,12ga.....

I just have to laugh when I hear "there is no reason for wildcats today". It reminds me of the early 1900's when the government decided to close down the patent office because everything that could be invented had already been invented.
I do agree that there "seems" to be a round for just about every purpose but if we just stop experimenting then what are we left with? You either experiment or stagnate as far as I'm concerned.
I am sure there is a round out there just waiting to produce the best accuracy with more power than other similar cartridges. I think if I cut down a 20mm round to make a "square charge" and sized it down to 48 caliber using a 645 grain bullet in a hollow point boat tail design I could make a gun to shoot .0001 MOA at 1000 yards - and still hunt grizzleys in the Alaskan interior with it during the "off season". Smile

I know, I'm tempted all the time, I've built and still shoot 6-284, 8-280Ackley, now I'm in the process of building a 280Ackley & a 250Ackley or a 6.5 in a short case is next, so I feel your pain and pleasure because I still cannot give up my "classic's". I like them all. Yes I say wildcats are fun, but so are the others.
