After long careful consideration I'm considering the M14 to be bought first. Smile

Still not sure though but we'll see once I get the money what I end up getting I'd imagine. Laughing

Get the M1A Dimitri. Then find a good girl that likes guns.
I got two great deals on my last two pistols, and I haven't told my wife yet, because I'm afraid that she would be too excited about my great deals. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad

Hey 'mitri,

I'd go for the M14 if it were my choice. Which I seen a few of them at Gander Mountain this past weekend, one of which was a national match for I think $2100.

D,
If you can own the gun in Canada. I would suggest that you consider the AR-10T in a used gun. I bought a used one for $1,700 so it is doable. They will shoot rings around the 14 or any of the 14 versions including the M1A. You can also buy uppers in very interesting chamberings.

I have had experiance with both guns and the 14 simply can not hold a candle to the AR.

As to females, find one that fits into your life, easy. When you do, she will like guns and you will not have to explain anything.

As long as it can't go full auto, it should be no problem owning it here. Good advice on the women too, Ed.

The AR-10 is a "variant" of the AR-15/M-16 line of weapons which means its restricted.

Which also means that I need a restricted license (need to upgrade) which allows to me own alot of different rifles, shotguns and most handguns, that are ether "short barrelled" or a variant of the AR.

But it also means that I cannot go hunting with the AR-10 ether. As your not allowed to take your restricted rifles out hunting (only to and from your home and the range).

Yeah, them guys are pretty serious when they call a firearm "restricted" up here. I've had a bit of a misunderstanding with the federalis over something about that recently. BTW, big D, I think that Enfield was way overpriced, compared to others that are out there, unless it was in exceptionally good condition.

Tracker,

That price was what I have seen and what I'm willing to pay for a Excellent or so condition Enfield that hasn't been sporterized. Smile

When I moved to Alaska I was able to bring my Mini-14 through Canada but not my Colt HBAR AR-15.

Thats odd, I do belive there are competitors that come to Canada with AR-15's just need to have the right paperwork I think.

I was afraid that the AR-10 might be a "bad" gun in Canada. The 14 and Mini are not bad, sorta gives you and idea about anti gun moronic idiots, dosen't it. It's gotta be bad cause it looks bad.....

NOT to poke fun at our Norther Brothers, I was working in Calgary for a couple years, one of my co-workers also from the States lived a block away - so we were shooting the breeze with his neighbor and this guy keeps going on and on about his gun collection, after a while I became a little curious as this guy is making it sound like he has a heavy arsenal. Knowing some of the difficulties and restrictions for weaponry in Canada, I started pressing him on the issue so I could see some of his arsenal.....well, he did have an arsenal, but it was a collection of 20 or so air guns! We tried not to laugh and make him feel bad, but the other side of the coin put the joke on us as he at least had 20 or so more weapons than we brought up there, so we had to choke that down. I was up there after THE Sept 11th, it was the first time I had been out of the country in a non-military fashion when there was a serious crisis, I will say that our Canadian Brothers made that stay welcome, we had neighbors bringing all of the American families on the block meals as if we were having a wake and suffering the loss of immediate family- their generosity and general good citizenship will always hold Canadians high on my list as great people to have in your corner.

Wiley,

I'd laugh at 20 airguns too, personally. Our problem is that the way our population base is spread, there's a huge block of influence in eastern Canada and the people that have been elected from there put all these gun restrictions in place, I don't know that many of their constituents agreed ( I know the Big D sure as h### wouldn't!) with them either, but once they were in it was done. Most western Canadians have opposed these restrictions and fought them tooth and nail. The downside is, the guy we have in now said he's going to do away with all that crap and so far...nothin'.
