But.. (how come there is always buts around?)

I WAAANNNTTT IT!!!

I have mentioned previously that I do not shoot long distance at animals.

So, ... I search for a 45ACP rifle.

Would you believe, there is NO 45ACP rifle available in Australia, and only Marlin SEMIAUTO in the US.
I research some more and found that there are a few Thomson Center barrel in 45ACP but nothing else..

So, I talk to my gunsmith, and after a few weeks of discussion Very Happy he convinced me to get a 45-70, based on the philosophy of " if you could not get the small one, get the big one.."

So, Why not...Gelan

Gelan:

Well, Heck Yeah, Why Not? Long as there is a good reason! Laughing

I must say, you have the most unique sets of "needs" or"'wants" I have ever seen! Very Happy

Have you considered the .45 Long Colt as a caliber?

My buddy has a custom .458 Winchester Magnum pistol on a Remington XP 100 action. He shot it maybe a half-dozen times, and it broke the custom stock within the first 4 rounds. I saw the video, and he is SCARED of it. I don't blame him! Shocked

Of course, to me, 150 meters (whazzat in real numbers? Razz ) is a fair far piece.

At any rate, good luck, and let us know how and what you are doing. It makes for some interesting conversation, and, upon occasion, head scratching.
Alles gute

Nothing in my note was to be bought from NEF. We are making a barrel out of two parts, an old used barrel as a breach block and a new barrel blank threaded into it.

This in TC circles is known as the Brown conversion

SwampFox,

This is exactly what I wanted to do.. I did not know that it is called a Brown conversion though.
Great to know I got a name for it Smile
My plan is to make a few quick converting barrels for the body later on.
Sort of having a half threads on the barrels with some sort of button locking arrangement.
So to change caliber, I would only need to press button, twist, replace barrel, twist, replace ejector arm and tadaa... ready..
I reckon its cheaper than having to figure out the ejector mechanism etc for every barrel/caliber.

I have one of these in NEF too

that's what made me to buy a NEF Buffalo Classic.
Its because of the difference between SG1 and SG2 body, one could handle lots higher pressure than tho other.
