Ain't that the truth Bushy. I have been up to 4 weeks without a shower when I was in the Army. Fart wtf Shocked We were in a position where we couldn't shower, but as you said....everyone smelled the same so we didn't notice any difference.

The rivers and creeks are getting very low out here now with the drought we have. The creek we camped beside last weekend is usually about 2'-3' deep, but now it is down to about 9", and no way would I even consider drinking from it, even though it is flowing.

I am always impressed with how the common wealth countries know the empiric system equally as the metric.

still learning how to convert F to C
l know the liters
smiling see Tracker its liters not litres...giggling.
just have difficulty with C to F and F to C
i do have it memorized that 16c = 61f
i do know that 0 = 32f and 100c = 212f
we had a recipe spec the other day and the others found it almost impossible to convert to cups, tablespoons and teaspoons.

keetoowah,

Its litre in Canada. Its the proper way to spell it in Canadian English.

However I'll admit I spell it the non-Canadian way at times. Laughing

lol Keetoowah thats good a good teacher is best.

However I didn't know it was used in Australia and New Zealand. I thought it was a hold over from French that "re" is used instead of "er" Or atleast thats how my teachers explained it why its used like that in school in some words. Confused

I grew up with the Imperial system, Pounds/Shillings and Pence then had to convert over to Dollars and Cents followed by the Metric system. I can't help myself, I often convert things back into the Imperial system so that it means something to me. I can visualise 1", 1' or 1 yard easily, but to do the same with 2.54cm (25.4mm), 30.4800cm (304.8mm) 0.9144m (91.44cm) just doesn't happen the same way. Its the same with speed; 100mph is fast....bloody fast, but 160.9344kph just doesn't seem all that quick. For some reason temperature didn't create the same problems...I just forgot about Fahrenheit and used Celcius, or Centregrade depending upon where you are from.

This is a website I found pretty good for conversions.

Vince,

I was born after the metric system was "adopted" here and yet I still hate using it especially when it comes to measurements, I measure in cups, oz, quarts, etc, and I still measure in inches and deal with fractional of inches.

You know I had the pleasure of teaching someone who was from a all metric "SI" country, never used the inch system in his life before coming here. He caught on pretty fast how to do math in fractions of a inch though. Smile

Double 0.0625" may seem like it may involve alittle math but double 1/16" by simply dividing the denominator and you get the double the measurement of 1/8"! And we all know 1/8" is .125" so we got it without pencils or anything! Its that easy. Laughing

On the same note, I grew up using the decimal metric system ( cm instead of mm) so I have to translate from cm to mm :-D.
Well at least it only involve changing the decimal dot place.

What I want to know is who decided to screw with my good ole Mom and apple pie, American Bourbon bottles. They could be shot if found.

Wooaa,
my question is... if someone says "a penny for your thoughts" and you have "nothing on your mind", do you have to make change??

If someone offers me a penny for my thoughts I think I'm supposed to respond with "caveat emptor" (buyer beware)

Nope, A penny is the lowest monetary denominator, at least in the US, so change is not possible. In addition, having no thought is a physical impossibility as the brain is never at full rest, if you are still fogging a mirror on your own. Very Happy Very Happy Then again, there is a cretin Democrat (or was that certain) I am fully convinced might just be eligible for Guinness.
