Prayers for all the fallen and their families.

This just reinforces my argument that a certain number of teachers in all schools, should go through training, and be armed at ALL TIMES.

The liberals will say gun control.
As usual, they will be wrong.

Yes...our prayers are needed. Not only to include the victims, but, their loved ones as well.

This will be another bit of information the antigunners will use against the pro-gunners.

Keep it coming...

If they do what they were talking about at my school they are going to remind teachers of our alerts and stages for problems at the school.
I really think that at least the campus security should be able to have weapons, not just the one cop who is there like half the time.
I was doing special interest groups before break and included the NRA as one and the kids hated that I did. Besides being one of the biggest SIGs they are one that people need to be informed on what they really do and not just what they are told they do. Unfortunatly my students started doing the whole it's the NRAs fault and we should ban all guns. ( Mad Sorry I know not the time to rant)
I agree that all of the families need to be in our thoughts and prayers for a long time to come and also for those who have gone before becuase it must be reopening old wounds for them as well.

The real tragedy here is that it could have been prevented, but in 2006 the antis defeated a proposal to allow guns on campus. The antis claimed the nmo gun policy would make it a safer campus. Now, due to stupidity on the part of the school official not warnign students in the 2 and one half hours lag time from the first two killings they have 31 dead. I think we need to pray for a whole lot of people on this one!! Mad

I agree with all the sentiments voiced here. We heard about this on the news this morning, although we didn't get all of the info that you guys would.

Prayers for all of the casulaties and their loved ones.

Welcome back George. Great to see you again.

Cheers, Vince

Vint2,

You mean this dont you:

Quote::
Gun bill gets shot down by panel
HB 1572, which would have allowed handguns on college campuses, died in subcommittee.

By Greg Esposito
381-1675

A bill that would have given college students and employees the right to carry handguns on campus died with nary a shot being fired in the General Assembly.

House Bill 1572 didn't get through the House Committee on Militia, Police and Public Safety. It died Monday in the subcommittee stage, the first of several hurdles bills must overcome before becoming laws.

The bill was proposed by Del. Todd Gilbert, R-Shenandoah County, on behalf of the Virginia Citizens Defense League. Gilbert was unavailable Monday and spokesman Gary Frink would not comment on the bill's defeat other than to say the issue was dead for this General Assembly session.

Virginia Tech spokesman Larry Hincker was happy to hear the bill was defeated. "I'm sure the university community is appreciative of the General Assembly's actions because this will help parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus."

Del. Dave Nutter, R-Christiansburg, would not comment Monday because he was not part of the subcommittee that discussed the bill.

Most universities in Virginia require students and employees, other than police, to check their guns with police or campus security upon entering campus. The legislation was designed to prohibit public universities from making "rules or regulations limiting or abridging the ability of a student who possesses a valid concealed handgun permit ... from lawfully carrying a concealed handgun."

The legislation allowed for exceptions for participants in athletic events, storage of guns in residence halls and military training programs.

Last spring a Virginia Tech student was disciplined for bringing a handgun to class, despite having a concealed handgun permit. Some gun owners questioned the university's authority, while the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police came out against the presence of guns on campus.

In June, Tech's governing board approved a violence prevention policy reiterating its ban on students or employees carrying guns and prohibiting visitors from bringing them into campus facilities
.

Who ever handled this situation should be fired though, the first shootings happend at 7am, then 2 hours later more shootings, and a hour after the 2nd round of shootings they decided to close the college. Confused

Damn, it is a sorry state of affairs, very sad and not necessary. Prayers to the victims and families.

Regardless of the "we told you so" that we, as a group, understand so well about this, the event is going to be twisted into an anti situation and an anti circus. We all understand that a single gun carried by a student or teacher could have stopped the murders, but no one will want to hear the logic and the truth; An armed citizen in such a situation is a defender, not a victim or murderer. The antis will simply drive, headlong, to create more victims in the future.

Try to explain to the antis, that a good two handed stance with a CCW at an attacker, instead of assuming the fetal position, works much better in saving lives.
That is the saddest part about this sad happening.
One armed teacher or student, and none of this happens. Crying or Very sad

Just a quick note.
I checked the Clinton News Network website and they have a pole that asks if gun control would help to end violence.
Unbelievably, the pinhead liberals that dwell over there are voting strongly NO
Maybe even an idiot can learn sometimes.

ok all i am cutting and pasting a email i recieved today from a friend down there.. I belong to a website much like this one but dealing with a certain type of motorcycle and met this guy through there...

Hi all,
Yes our son Colin is a Junior at VT and was in French class when the
gunman burst into his classroom and began shooting. Colin was hit in
the left thigh and the bullet went through his femur (breaking it)
then down his leg and part exited below his knee while the balance
lodged above the knee. He lay inert among a pile of bodies as he
heard the gunman relaod many times and keep shooting his classmates
and teacher. The gunman then left and shot in other rooms before
returning to Colin's room and starting all over. Colin was hit again
in the upper left arm, the bullet went across his shoulder blade and
exited from his upper chest. A third bullet entered his buttock and
splattered against his pelvis. Then a final shot was heard and that
was it! It seems Colin got the last bullets before the gunman offed
himself. The great news is that no internal organs were touched, no
major arteries and (so far as we can tell) no serious nerve damage.
He is broken and bruised with all kinds of open wounds, but he will
heal and he will get over it. No news yet on his classmates, but he
heard the initial color coded triage check and many were tagged black
which does not sound good.

I guess we are still very lucky as many parents will not have a child
to nurse back to health. Just spent the first night at his bedside
and he is holding up like a giant! I am so proud of him.

Sorry to unload all that (and no spell check), but you guys always
listen so well!

We are OK, but please pray for the others that are less fortunate
than we are.

Personal view...They (the universities) need to train a few of their students in the art of firearm self defense, issue CCW and do like the US Marshals do. Have one in every class and/or walking the halls. Atleast scattered about the campus...Or just plain allow CCW on campus. This would never have esculated to the point that it did...

Not much of a prayin' man, but my heart goes out to those that lost loved ones and hope that all the wounded heal to 100%.

I agree with Bushmaster on this one. They need people that can stop things before they get worse. I carry pepper spry that is designed to stop a bear (or at least that's what it says). Got when we were having rapes on the college campus that I went to. I know it's not the same but it is something and makes me and my friends feel safer. Even something like that or those tazers would be helpful.
