Gents,
Many years have passed since my dad and I would get up early, grab our guns and go spend some quality time hunting. He passed away two years ago with cancer, which as some of you know, cause you to reflect and remember those great times. Well now my sone is the same age I was then. I decided to get back into hunting about 6 months ago and bought my son a .22 and for me a Remington 700 .270 win. My son caught on quick and wanted to start shooting my gun...he actually did pretty well with it and the kick didn't deter him a bit (he's 11). I decided last week to give him my gun and I bought myself a new one.
My question to the group is...How did I do? I found a Weatherby MK V 30-06 Synthetic at a used gun store. It looks to be in perfect shape inside and out. I gave him $350 for it. I mounted a Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x40 scope on it and took it to the range...once boresighted and zeroed I was hitting pretty accurate (1" at 100 meters). I can't find too many of these for sale used, so I want to know if I got a good deal?
Thanks for any feedback you can give.
Hick

Well you got a good rifle for under $500 bucks, put a great scope on it, and it shoots MOA with factory ammo. Sounds like one great deal to me!
Welcome to HuntingNut!!! I hope you stick around and keep us posted on your success this season.

I paid more for my Weatherby Vanguard, not even in the same class as the gun you bought. Yes, you got one heck of a good deal. My suggestion to you would be to hang on to it for ever and pass it on to your grandson.
Keep it coming...

I think you got a fine deal on that rifle and the scope is pretty good too. I would hold on to it and past it on down to my son or grandson when the time comes.
